Folding doors and outdoor tables: what Yogi Ara feels like

When I arrived in front of Yogi Ara, one outdoor table immediately caught my eye. With the cool weather these days, having a beer outside in the breeze is really appealing.

On top of that, the folding doors at the entrance were wide open, giving the place a great sense of openness. Even sitting inside didn't feel stuffy — you still get that outdoor feeling, which seems to be Yogi Ara's own charm.

Inside Yogi Ara: 30 seats and a group table

I visited right at opening time, and a few guests were already seated and having a good time.

The interior has space for about 30 people, plus a group table that seats up to 6, so it looked plenty suitable for a gathering of friends or a simple work dinner.

I also noticed blankets set out for anyone who gets cold — a thoughtful touch from the owner that put me in a good mood.

They have plenty of dishes that double as a full meal — cod roe perilla oil pasta, jjamppong tang (spicy seafood noodle soup), dakbokkeumtang, seafood cream jjamppong, and more — so it seems like a good place to stop by for a meal even without drinking.

What we ordered at Yogi Ara: cod roe pasta and tomato rosé chicken stew

Table spread of ordered dishes at Yogi Ara

After some deliberation, I ordered the cod roe perilla oil pasta for ₩17,000 and the tomato rosé dakbokkeumtang for ₩26,000.

With such good food in front of me, I couldn't resist a beer, so I had one lightly alongside.

The cod roe perilla oil pasta impressed me visually the moment it arrived.

Cheese, chopped green onion, and cod roe were neatly arranged on top of the noodles,

and on one side there was a generous helping of perilla leaves, perilla oil, and dried seaweed flakes.

I just mixed it all together and dug in, and the amount of noodles was way more than I expected. Compared to a regular pasta restaurant, it looked easily double the portion — I was surprised at how generous it was.

The noodles were cooked just right, with a springy texture still alive, and the nutty aroma of the perilla oil along with the salty umami of the cod roe soaked deeply into the noodles — genuinely delicious. It was a hearty dish that could easily stand in for a full meal.

Yogi Ara's tomato rosé chicken stew

Next up, the tomato rosé dakbokkeumtang — I immediately understood why everyone who's been here recommends it.

Chicken stew cooked in tomato rosé sauce

Cooked in a tomato rosé sauce, it wasn't spicy at all, and the bright acidity of the tomato blended beautifully with the smooth, nutty richness of the cream.

Chicken and vegetables soaked in sauce

The chicken was cooked tender all the way through, and the vegetables inside had soaked up plenty of sauce too — I finished the whole thing happily.
