Suyeong restaurant grilled vegetables and pizza: Extra Mile, Busan
In short
Extra Mile is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Suyeong, Busan. On a weekday evening, we had a Hot Honey Pepperoni and Birria Taco half-and-half pizza plus romesco grilled vegetables. Extra Mile’s grilled vegetables completely stole the show.

The evenings are starting to get a little breezy, so it was perfect weather for eating outside—and my friend and I had ourselves a proper feast. I’m down in Busan for a little while now, and honestly, people who live here are so blessed. So many genuinely good restaurants have opened around Gwangalli. It used to be a neighborhood without much of a food scene, but now there are so many great places and I love it. This is Extra Mile, a seriously delicious pizza place tucked into the alley beside the Gwangnam Police Substation, with no sign out front.

I’m writing this while eating the pizza I took home—maybe because the dough is aged, but it is seriously delicious!

A Gwangalli pizza place you find without a sign
Extra Mile is already well known for its pizza. There is no separate sign, but it occupies its own two-story building, the kind of place that makes you curious about what it could be from the outside alone. It is easy to find once you turn into the alley beside the Gwangnam Police Substation.

I also loved the spacious courtyard so much. I’m not sure whether they host private events, but it would be so nice for a private booking or an outdoor event ㅠㅠ

The restaurant is pretty and the interior lighting is gorgeous too, so I recommend it to anyone looking for a Gwangalli date spot! I think it would be lovely during the day as well, so I’ll come back when I have occasion to have lunch in Gwangalli.

They are even on Catchtable, so if there is a wait, you could leave your number and just wander around Gwangalli—the time would fly. Service was quick and tables turned over well, so we luckily got in without waiting on a weekday evening. It was full right after we sat down haha.

There are bar seats too, so you can dine alone or sit side by side with your partner. Solo dining in Gwangalli is nothing to fear.

Every table has coloring sheets featuring Gwangan Bridge and pizza, so we did some coloring while waiting for our food for the first time in ages haha. They say it is emotionally good for you too; it would be great for people with little ones, and I, a fully grown little one, loved it too.

Half-and-half pizza with no extra charge
Extra Mile is a great Italian spot in Gwangalli haha. But I’m not really a pasta person ㅠㅠ so we ordered pizza and romesco grilled vegetables. I loved that you can get a half-and-half pizza without an extra charge. No need to agonize over Gwangalli pizza. No surcharge for half-and-half? I was shocked.

While we waited, I stole a fig from the courtyard. We had a fig tree at home when I was little. I was so happy to see one, and while looking around, I spotted one that was nicely ripe...

Even the pickles were delicious? They seemed house-made, and wow—I piled them onto about three plates, like asking the innkeeper for more kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi);; The pickles were so good that they made me even more excited for the pizza.
When I searched the place and saw “48-hour aged dough,” I thought, ooh, even if my stomach bursts, I have to go here. We had come here as our second stop after stuffing ourselves with unlimited grilled clams, but I am so glad we did.

We ordered a half-and-half of Hot Honey Pepperoni and Birria Taco. What is this pizza visual??

Hot Honey Pepperoni and Birria Taco
The Hot Honey Pepperoni comes with pepperoni, mascarpone, ricotta, and pickled peppers. Even the crust is anything but ordinary. Maybe it is the 48-hour aged dough, but the puffed-up edge looks outrageously delicious. Wow, is the owner married? If not, I want to marry them.

Romesco grilled vegetables won me over before the pizza
Order the romesco grilled vegetables—this is a must. Once I finish dieting, I want to eat ten orders of this. We set aside the pizza and only meant to taste the vegetables because they looked so good, but both my friend and I went wide-eyed.

How can grilled vegetables be this delicious? We practically said it at the same time haha. We went, “Wow!” and the vegetables were so good that we forgot about the pizza for a moment. Are grilled vegetables supposed to taste like this? I could seriously eat ten plates of just this.

They call it a great Italian restaurant in Gwangalli, but I do not usually like Italian food much—and Extra Mile’s grilled vegetables need to become famous. I do not think I have had anything this good even at fancy Italian restaurants in Seoul. They are truly amazing. This is the signature dish.

I really only meant to have a taste, but they hit my taste buds properly and the pizza got pushed to the back burner. How can vegetables taste this good? If the owner is reading this, please share the recipe in the comments.

For the Birria Taco pizza, the 48-hour aged dough was wonderfully fluffy and chewy. If a pizza crust is delicious, the game is already over, but the toppings were great too. It had a generous taco-like feel, which made it delicious.

After being completely absorbed in the vegetables, I thought, oh right, I should eat pizza! The second I took a bite of the Hot Honey Pepperoni, I forgot my duty as a blogger, got totally distracted, and gobbled it all up without even taking photos.. So I only have the first photo of it. It was that delicious. Extra Mile really does Gwangalli pizza properly!!

A space for dates and gatherings too
Around the time we were leaving, the guests cleared out all at once, so I took some interior photos. The atmosphere is so lovely that it would be great for a Gwangalli date or a pre-wedding meeting too. The space is beautiful and the food is delicious, so it seems perfect for a private event as well—but it is a popular restaurant working hard without a day off, so save it and be sure to try the delicious pizza when you come to Gwangalli ㅠㅠ It is tastier than the supposedly top places in Seoul.

I do not normally like Italian food that much, so I was so happy to find this delicious Gwangalli Italian restaurant that suited my taste perfectly. The owners had such bright energy and were so kind that I felt good throughout the meal. Next time, I am definitely bringing my mom. Great atmosphere, delicious food—it was the best!
This neighborhood did not have restaurants like this when I lived here, but the standard of dining has really gone up!! I love that so many delicious places have opened in Gwangalli.
