Yeouido restaurant for Singapore chicken rice: Jeongyun Kitchen

When you eat lunch in Yeouido every day, you eventually end up rotating through the same old menus, right? This time, while looking for something a little different for lunch in Yeouido, I visited Jeongyun Kitchen, tucked away on the second floor of Gongjak Shopping Center. It is a spot where you can try distinctive dishes that are not so easy to find around Yeouido, including Singapore chicken rice. I would also recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to eat near The Hyundai Seoul!

It is in Room 206 on the second floor of Gongjak Shopping Center, 113 Yeouinaru-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and is open from 11:00 to 14:00, closed on weekends. It describes itself as an Asian home-style chicken house using Korean chicken, rice, and vegetables.

Jeongyun Kitchen is in Room 206 on the second floor of Gongjak Shopping Center in Yeouido.

There is a little fun in heading deeper into the shopping center to find it, and once you arrive, the atmosphere feels quite different from the usual Yeouido restaurants!

It is not an enormous, flashy space, but I loved its cozy, charming atmosphere.

In the middle of a demanding office life, lunch here feels like slipping away to another country for a different kind of meal, even just for a moment.

For Yeouido office workers tired of the same menu every day, this kind of small lunchtime escape sounds pretty nice, right?

Is It Easy to Order If Singaporean Food Is New to You?

These are not common Yeouido lunch dishes, so even looking over the menu was fun. Singaporean food may feel unfamiliar, and some people may wonder about the spices. But once I tried it, I found it suited Korean tastes quite well, and you can order without cilantro if it is not for you, so it does not feel intimidating for a first try.

The Seriously, Seriously Tender Singapore Chicken Rice

The dish that stayed with me most was, of course, the Singapore chicken rice!

The chicken looked moist in the photo, but tasting it in person, it was far more tender than I expected.

Even though the pieces were cut thick, they were not dry at all—just moist and tender, so I kept reaching for more. If it is your first time trying Singapore chicken rice, you may worry that the spices will be too strong, but it actually suited Korean tastes surprisingly perfectly!

Curry That Was Great When I Wanted Something Different

The curry we ordered alongside it was delicious too.

It came with rich curry, rice, and crispy cooked chicken, offering a completely different appeal from the moist chicken rice. Mixing the curry into the rice and eating it with the crispy chicken gave it great texture and made for a satisfying meal. If you visit with two or more people, I recommend ordering different dishes and sharing them.

If You Love Spices, Try the Cucumber Muchim Too

And the unexpected dish that hit my taste exactly was the cucumber muchim (seasoned cucumber salad)!

You can receive it free when you write a receipt review. Crisp cucumber is combined with peanuts and cilantro, making it spicy and wonderfully fragrant.

As someone who usually loves spices, it was completely my kind of thing. Picking at it between bites of chicken rice or curry refreshed my appetite, so it worked beautifully as a side too.

A Brief Lunchtime Escape in Yeouido

The food was delicious, but the owner was also so kind that Jeongyun Kitchen made me feel good throughout the meal. If you are looking for a good lunch spot near The Hyundai Seoul, or craving something different from your everyday Yeouido meals, I think it is well worth a visit. Above all, the chicken in the Singapore chicken rice was seriously, seriously tender, and I think I will be thinking about it again. It was a place where distinctive food and an atmosphere that did not feel like Yeouido let me feel as if I had taken a short trip. Jeongyun Kitchen is a treasure hidden deep inside Gongjak Shopping Center, and I recommend it :)
