Date-night Korean BBQ near Bangi Station in Songpa: kkodeulsal texture

In short

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station in Songpa, Seoul, with a large parking lot and spacious private rooms. On a date with her boyfriend, the writer ordered snowflake galbisal, kkodeulsal (chewy skirt meat), steamed egg, and a hangover-curing mulberry-leaf teolleogi sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), and loved the chewy bite of the kkodeulsal paired with melजeot (fermented anchovy sauce). With solid meat and sides alike, it works for both dates and group dinners.

This place was actually featured on Su Michesik-hoe (a famous Korean food TV show),,, so of course I had to go!!! 💓 Here's my honest review after eating some really delicious snowflake galbisal and kkodeulsal 🙌

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station, looked like a good spot from the outside alone!!

There's a large parking lot like this, which is the biggest perk — you don't have to worry about parking..!

When we went, there were actually a lot of people parking too haha. If you're setting up a meeting or gathering near Bangi Station, I recommend Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch!!

A spacious hall and rooms — good for group dinners too?

Walking into the restaurant, a really spacious hall caught my eye. I thought this would be perfect for a company dinner,,!

Spacious hall seating

There are also very spacious separate rooms like this, which looked great for private gatherings or group dinners. We went on a Monday, and there were actually office workers having a company dinner in another room. Truly living up to its reputation as a real Bangi-dong BBQ hotspot ✨

We had made a reservation, so the table was already set when we arrived.

Please check the photo above for the menu! We ordered a few of their signature items — snowflake galbisal, kkodeulsal, steamed egg, rice, and the hangover-curing teolleogi sujebi 😋 Spoiler: that hangover sujebi was incredibly good,,,

I could tell they put careful thought into the side dishes too — perilla leaves, radish salad, shredded onion, pickled radish, wasabi, and more!

The self-serve bar was also managed really cleanly, so I could grab things without worry 😃

Finally, our snowflake galbisal and kkodeulsal arrived!

Plated snowflake galbisal and kkodeulsal

Can you see this gorgeous snowflake galbisal?🥹 I really love beef, and it had been a while since I saw marbling this fantastic ✨

The kkodeulsal also,,, looked so fresh I wanted to eat it right away haha.

A staff member brought over charcoal and set it up for us themselves. All the staff were kind too!!👍🏻

The nice touch of garlic and chili in the meljeot

Meat going onto the grill! The reason Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch near Bangi Station is such a smart spot is this meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce). A lot of places don't even have meljeot, but here they add garlic and chili right into it,,, as someone who used to live in Jeju, the owner really knows their stuff 👀

Wow... looking at this again makes me want to eat it again... the juices were truly fantastic 🤤

They grilled the meat so skillfully, and now it was time to eat.

Snowflake galbisal with wasabi and salt combo

Of course, the first bite of meat has to be the wasabi + salt combo! It was truly, truly delicious. The snowflake galbisal wasn't tough at all — it melted in my mouth, and I'd honestly rank it among the best BBQ spots near Bangi Station ☺️

The steamed egg we ordered along the way was yum too!!

So how was the kkodeulsal texture?

After finishing the snowflake galbisal, it was time for the kkodeulsal. Everyone, this place is a kkodeulsal spot — well, of course the galbisal was delicious too, but the chewy texture of the kkodeulsal is seriously amazing,,

It was even tastier than the meat I had in Jeju..! Honestly the kind of flavor you could polish off 2-3 servings of by yourself.

I love wrapping pork in lettuce, so I wrapped it up nicely with radish salad, shredded onion, and chili 🥬 I really hope everyone gets to try this.

Finishing with hangover mulberry-leaf teolleogi sujebi

We finished our meal with Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch's signature hangover mulberry-leaf teolleogi sujebi. I heard weekday lunch only serves the sujebi, so I had high expectations for the first bite,

A full serving of hangover mulberry-leaf teolleogi sujebi

And honestly, this was insanely good (in a good way). Wow.. we have a mallow-shrimp soybean paste soup that my mom always makes in winter, and this tasted exactly like that. Genuinely, one spoonful and my stomach felt so much better, and all these memories came flooding back,,,🥹

Teolleogi sujebi ladled into a bowl

I ended up eating more of the sujebi than my boyfriend did — it was that good.. 💕 Next time I'm going back at lunch just for that sujebi, for real!!🤍 We finished dinner completely full and warm, patting our round bellies, and had a wonderful date ㅎㅎ
