Looking for outdoor chimaek near Nambu Terminal, I found Kkanbu Chicken

I went to Nambu Terminal to check out Pokémon cards at the International Electronics Center and to meet a friend! I used to work around here so I've tried a lot of the good restaurants nearby, but I'd never made it to Kkanbu Chicken, which I'd heard has amazing vibes for chimaek (chicken and beer) on its outdoor terrace! Figured this was my chance, so I went~ Today's review is Kkanbu Chicken's Nambu Terminal branch.

It's really close to Exit 1. There are a ton of offices and office workers around here, so even on a weekday evening it had a really lively atmosphere. Total hotspot vibes!

If you look straight ahead from Exit 1 you'll see a sign like this, and turning right takes you straight to Kkanbu Chicken!

This place really has that early-autumn outdoor terrace feel. The weather's been so nice lately, and eating at outdoor tables is just romantic, you know? If you're looking for outdoor chimaek near Nambu Terminal, come to Kkanbu Chicken. It was packed with customers, and there were a lot of group tables too!

You can park in the building's basement lot for a fee! I heard that if you ask, they'll also tell you how to park for free, so if you're planning to drive, I'd recommend asking when you visit!

What's the vibe like? Lots of group dinner teams

The interior had a clean, tidy vibe, and they kept the windows open so a nice breeze drifted in while we ate! Even at the indoor tables you could catch that breeze and enjoy the outdoor terrace feel. The place is spacious, so it's good for group visits too. It seemed especially popular for group dinners — there were a lot of teams having their work dinners there. Menu and what we ordered

Being a proper chicken place, they had tons of chicken varieties and a huge lineup of side dishes too. From ice-cold draft beer to highballs and soju, the drink lineup was a perfect match for the chicken. I ordered garlic soy boneless chicken / soup tteokbokki / zero-sugar cola.

Kkangnaengi (roasted corn kernels) comes as a complimentary side! The lively atmosphere made me think it'd be great to come back here with a friend for beer sometime. A perfect place for chimaek! Maybe because of the great vibe and the chimaek menu, I was also surprised by how many foreign customers were there.

There were a lot of celebrity signatures on the wall too — turns out Shinsegae Chairman Chung Yong-jin has been here. He left a signature saying the Nambu Terminal branch is the best Kkanbu Chicken, and honestly, I agree. Apparently a lot of celebrities visit because it's close to the Seoul Arts Center and Seocho-dong.

Garlic soy boneless chicken, just the right amount of spicy

Ta-da, the garlic soy boneless chicken arrives! With how packed the place was, I expected a long wait, but the food came out really fast! Amazing! I ordered it boneless because I didn't feel like picking meat off bones haha. The menu had two chili pepper icons next to it, and true to that, it smelled pretty spicy from the start.

So glossy and shiny. Freshly fried chicken, right off the fryer!! I couldn't tell you the last time I had chicken this good at an actual chicken place. This particular garlic soy boneless chicken is made with thigh meat, so it was super moist and tender.

The batter was just the right thickness and it was piping hot, so I really enjoyed it. The sauce wasn't just sweet — it had a subtle spicy kick that kept me coming back for more without getting tired of it! Kind of like Shin Ramyun spice level..? It also came with fried rice cakes on the side, which was an extra bonus!!! For someone like me who loves garlic, loves soy sauce flavor, and loves spicy food, this menu was perfect for me, hoho. Spicy garlic soy chicken is just the best!!!! The meat inside was so moist I finished it in no time.

Soup tteokbokki that calls for soju

We also ordered soup tteokbokki (rice cakes in spicy broth), and this was a great choice too, with a nice sweet-and-spicy balance! It wasn't a heavy, cloying spice but a clean spicy flavor, which made it a great pairing for drinks too.

It came with two kinds of rice cakes — chewy noodle-style wheat rice cakes and plump round rice cakes — plus a generous amount of fish cakes, so it was really satisfying! This one kind of makes you want to reach for soju, you know?! It paired really well as a side with the chicken.

To sum up

They also sell basket beer sets, which seem great for ordering at a group dinner! The staff were kind, the outdoor terrace atmosphere was top-notch, the freshly fried chicken was delicious, and the side dishes were a solid, tasty lineup too!
