Paju food-alley café: mango bingsu and croffle at Fruit Forest
In short
Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fresh fruit dessert café in the Simhaksan food alley in Paju, Gyeonggi. After a meal on the alley, the writer ordered fresh mango snow bingsu (shaved ice dessert) and a croffle: the bingsu came piled with well-ripened fresh mango, with mango purée served on the side so you can add sweetness to taste. Fruit Forest is an easy Paju mango bingsu stop for a post-meal café course or a family gathering.

As a fresh fruit specialty café, I expected a good variety of fruit, and after trying it myself, the mango was genuinely excellent — if you're hunting for a Paju mango bingsu spot, this one's worth the visit.

The first thing that caught my eye at the entrance was the fruit display!

True to being a fresh fruit specialty shop, the showcase was packed with fruit that looked fresh just to look at. You can pick and buy fresh fruit directly, and there are also cup fruit, gift sets, and group orders available.

The mangoes in particular looked so appetizing that it built up my excitement for the mango bingsu I'd ordered that day.

Fresh mango snow bingsu / Croffle

The sweet fresh mango snow bingsu and the croffle both looked appetizing right from the visuals.

How is the fresh mango snow bingsu? Ripened mango plus mango purée
The fresh mango snow bingsu came with a generous heap of well-ripened yellow mango piled on top of the white snow ice, and it looked sweet just from the sight of it.

Cream cheese and vanilla ice cream came along with the mango too, making for a rich, generous look overall.

I tried the mango first, and it was even better than I'd expected. It was really well-ripened, so the flesh was soft and sweet, with mango's characteristic deep sweetness and aroma coming through clearly — it was delicious even eaten on its own.

True to being a fresh fruit specialty spot, the fruit flavor really came through!

The snow ice had a soft texture that melts in your mouth, so it was delicious even eaten on its own. Mango purée is mixed in throughout, so you get another hit of deep mango sweetness as you eat.

They also serve mango purée on the side, so you can add more according to your own taste.

I added a bit more purée, and the mango flavor deepened, making it noticeably sweeter to enjoy. Eating it together with the vanilla ice cream added a soft, sweet layer too — the combination was really good.

The croffle too: warm croffle with cold ice cream
It felt like too little to have just the bingsu, so I ordered the croffle too. It also comes topped with ice cream, and eating the warm croffle together with the cold ice cream made for a great dessert pairing.

The croffle was crispy on the outside and chewy and moist inside — that classic crispy-outside, soft-inside texture — and topping it with the soft, sweet ice cream added even more sweetness.

The well-ripened, soft, sweet mango piled on generously, plus the snow ice, mango purée, and vanilla ice cream together made for a very satisfying dish.
