Injeolmi red bean bingsu at a Paju café near Simhaksan: Fruit Forest

In short

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fresh-fruit bingsu (shaved ice dessert) café on Dolgoji-gil in the Simhaksan restaurant street in Paju, Gyeonggi. The writer stopped in after dinner for the injeolmi patbingsu (red bean and rice-cake bingsu) at 25,000 won, which came piled with red beans that were not overly sweet, and sat on the outdoor terrace with her dog, since Fruit Forest allows dogs on the terrace only. A good place for one bowl of bingsu after a meal.

A Paju bingsu spot you have to know!! This is Fruit Forest, a bingsu (shaved ice dessert) place near Simhaksan mountain 🍧

Where is Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store, and what are its hours?

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a bingsu café at 144 Dolgoji-gil, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, right in front of Simhaksan. It's open 10:00 - 21:00, with last order at 20:30.

A bingsu spot right in front of Simhaksan!! I visited 'Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store' after dinner because I wanted bingsu 🍧

The name Fruit Forest is written in these huge letters haha. It's visible from far on the right side so I found it right away.

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store building and parking lot in front

There's a spacious parking lot in front of the café so parking was easy ~! Even though I went in the evening, there were more than 4 tables occupied. Definitely earns its reputation as a Paju bingsu spot .. 👏🏻

Fruit Forest bingsu flavors and how the fruit is chosen

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store's bingsu comes in five kinds: fig, fresh mango, peach, melon, and red bean. The counter is a clean black tone and the owner was super friendly.

The counter you see right when you walk in. Clean yet sleek black tone! The owner was really friendly haha.

True to its name, this café has fruit bingsu of every kind! Fig / fresh mango / peach / melon / red bean! A café with a wide variety of fruit bingsu!

Can you see all that fruit?

Fruit Forest apparently joins the first auction at the wholesale market every dawn to personally check and select only the best fruit 👍🏻 Fruit is really the most important thing in a fruit bingsu, right? Because they bring in only fresh, high-sugar fruit, the quality of the bingsu naturally goes up!

Sure enough, at the café the fruit was stored as the top priority, kept neatly organized. Haha.

They also sell fruit juice! When I visited there was fresh mango juice and fresh banana milk. Both the bingsu and juice have their fruit cut right at the time of order, not frozen, so it's a bingsu spot 'Fruit Forest' where you can enjoy it even more deliciously with real fresh fruit ✨

Injeolmi red bean bingsu, 25,000 won: how much red bean and how sweet?

What I ordered at Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store was the injeolmi (sweet rice cake) red bean patbingsu for ₩25,000. It comes with injeolmi powder sprinkled over milk ice, and the amount of red bean was so generous I was surprised the moment I got it.

Huh? Honestly I went in planning to get a fruit bingsu, but the table next to me said the red bean here is delicious too …. and they were eating a bingsu piled high with red beans, weren't they? Haha.

Since I'd already had fruit at home… ^^ today I decided to order the red bean bingsu instead. I ordered the injeolmi red bean patbingsu for ₩25,000.

The red bean here is delicious too…? And more than anything, a massive amount of red bean gets piled on .. I thought 'they're really giving this much?' the second I got it.

A bite of cool ~ milk ice patbingsu sprinkled with injeolmi powder … this is it ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

When red bean is too sweet it's hard to finish, but Fruit Forest's injeolmi bingsu has just the right level of sweetness 🤎 You also bite into injeolmi rice cake pieces here and there, which was a real treat too haha.

Can you see how much red bean there is? Haha. I tried to capture the amount as best I could, and from the side you could see it was piled on even more generously. The owner also gives you a small side plate and a big spoon together, so it was convenient to share.

Can you bring a dog? Outdoor terrace only at Fruit Forest

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store allows dogs only on the outdoor terrace, and not indoors. At night the terrace lights up with colorful lighting, so it was a nice place to sit with my dog Jjong.

Fruit Forest has an outdoor terrace. On days like now when the weather is cool and nice, I'd recommend the outdoor terrace seats. Since I went at night, the colorful lights were on, and since dogs are allowed on the terrace only, Jjong came along too!

Jjong can't eat bingsu of course … so I brought along a dog snack and she ate it happily. Haha.

* Just a note, dogs are not allowed indoors! Only outdoors. If you have a dog stroller or carrier bag it would probably be even more convenient. * The evening air was so, so nice the day I visited, which made eating bingsu with my dog even better haha.

Indoor seats, photo zone and the Simhaksan restaurant street in Paju

Indoors, Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store has sofa seating and quite a lot of tables, which looked good for groups too. It's located on the Simhaksan restaurant street, making it a perfect spot to stop for dessert after a meal.

This is what the interior looks like. There's a space set up for enjoying bingsu comfortably, and there are sofa seats too, which looked cozy 👍🏻 There are quite a lot of tables so it looked good for group visits too.

Best of all, since it's located on the Simhaksan restaurant street where lots of good restaurants are clustered, it seemed like the perfect place to come for bingsu dessert after lunch or dinner.

Hand-painted photo zone on the wall at Fruit Forest

There's also a cute photo zone on one wall. Haha. Looking at their Instagram it seems like they actually painted it themselves …. Really talented.

The terrace seen from above! Doesn't the white table set such a nice atmosphere? It would probably be nice to come here during the daytime once fall arrives too.

Verdict: a bowl of bingsu after dinner in Paju

Fruit Forest, a bingsu spot with great taste and not just great looks.

Using hand-selected fruit, their fruit bingsu comes topped with whole pieces of sweet, high-sugar fruit! And the patbingsu, piled high with sweet, delicious red beans, is made with fresh fruit ingredients, not frozen ones — a genuinely quality bingsu spot, 'Fruit Forest.' Located on the Simhaksan restaurant street, I recommend it for a bowl of bingsu as dessert time after a good meal 😉
