Nampo-dong sushi restaurant with app parking payment: Moshi Moshi

What should we eat today? After some thought, a friend and I decided to go shopping at the department store and have a fresh sushi set. Here's my review.

How does parking work at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok?

I don't think I've seen a department store explain parking this thoroughly, so I took a photo. Parking support is provided based on how much you spend at the department store, but instead of using the parking payment machine, I registered my license plate in advance on the Lotte Department Store app and settled it there. Any remaining balance was covered with a free parking voucher provided right in the app, so I could just use it immediately. No worries about parking, and everything handled in one stop — department stores really are the best!!

What Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok looks like inside and out

Department stores like this also tend to have great food halls. The place I picked was the sushi specialist 'Moshi Moshi.' A Japanese-style exterior, and it's even certified with the 'excellent hygiene grade' mark — a Safe Restaurant designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. We walked in right at 11am on a weekday.

Thanks to the spacious, pleasant interior, I got even more excited to eat well haha. Sea squirt, yellowtail, abalone, beef (yukhoe/raw beef), pork (tonkatsu) — all domestic. Country-of-origin labeling matters!

What's on the menu at Moshi Moshi Sushi?

There's an udon-sushi set, sushi set, set no.1, set no.2, assorted sushi, crab guts bibimbap set, sea squirt bibimbap set, fish roe rice set, à la carte items, and even a kids' menu with tonkatsu and mini udon. I had trouble deciding, but the variety was so well put together. After a lot of back and forth, we picked the two bestsellers: the sushi set and the sashimi set!!

Sashimi set, 31,900 won: what comes with it

This is the sushi set menu with assorted sashimi added on. The sashimi was chewy and fresh, as if just caught, and had a lovely firm texture.

We ate it slowly and enjoyed every bite.

Before the sushi, I had the crunchy salad first, and the soft tofu with a dressing so good I need to know what's in it (the real hidden gem).

Is Moshi Moshi Sushi good for solo diners, families or groups?

We each neatly ordered our own sushi set and sashimi set, but there's also an assorted set (for 3-4 people), and for groups who love sashimi and Japanese food, there's a set that even includes chashu, plus ramen, soba, and a kids' set menu — this place would work great for family meals or gatherings too. There are also counter seats, so it seems like a good spot to come alone for à la carte sushi, a simple noodle dish, and a solo drink 👍🏻

Eggplant has been so delicious lately, and the assorted tempura combo of eggplant, shrimp, and sweet pumpkin was just right!

Adding a potato croquette to the set

Curious about the potato croquette, we ordered one extra. We kept saying how beautifully it was fried, so light and fluffy-looking, and then took a bite — the inside was packed full, warm, and mildly, deliciously satisfying. Now I understand why the set menus are the bestsellers. A set that covers a well-rounded meal in one go. Highly recommend this combo 😗
