After dropping the kids off, a close friend of mine told me about a jjukkumi (spicy webfoot octopus) restaurant near her place in Hanam, so we went for an early lunch. It's called Jigueseo On Jjukkumi, and apparently it's famous for a hot-pot rice set that rivals a proper Hanam hanjeongsik (Korean full-course meal) — so I went in with high expectations, haha.

Where is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch, and when is it open?

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is located at 5 Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, open from 11:00 to 21:00, closed every Thursday. Parking is plentiful.

It was a quick drive from home, so it felt like an easy trip, and the vibe was quite different from restaurants downtown. Jigueseo On Jjukkumi sits a bit outside central Hanam, so getting there by public transit is a little inconvenient — I'd recommend driving!

What is the dining room like inside?

Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch has a photo-zone-like spot right at the entrance, and the interior is lined with big windows. Cute animal figures greeted us as soon as we walked in, haha. There were even chairs there, so it seemed like a great photo spot.

If I'd brought the kids, they definitely would have wanted photos with these cute figures, haha.

Interior seating lined with large windows

Spacious seating with a tablet on the table

Once inside, the run of big windows made the space feel open, not cramped at all. You could see the whole outdoor view through the windows, which was nice to look at while eating. The window-side tables were quite generously sized, good for groups. Each table had its own tablet for ordering, which made things easy. The tables were also spaced out comfortably, so it seemed like a great spot for families with kids or larger groups.

Group seating and the birthday party room

To the right of the entrance there's group seating, and a separate room where you can hold birthday parties. I'm always searching for restaurants with private rooms for family gatherings, and this place seemed perfect! I think I'll book here for our next family get-together, haha. If you're looking for a tidy hanjeongsik-style spot near Hanam, this could be the one.

Ordering by tablet: perilla oil jjukkumi hot-pot rice set for two

At Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch you order from a tablet at your table, and besides jjukkumi there's braised monkfish, fresh cod soup, monkfish soup, seafood jjim, pajeon, and even gorgonzola pizza. We ordered the perilla oil jjukkumi hot-pot rice set for two.

Once seated, browsing the tablet menu showed a wide variety beyond jjukkumi — braised monkfish, fresh cod soup, monkfish soup, seafood jjim, pajeon, even gorgonzola pizza. It seemed like a great place to order a bunch of different dishes with a group, and since there's pizza that kids love, I thought it'd be nice to bring the kids next time.

What comes with the 13,000 won perilla oil jjukkumi set?

The perilla oil jjukkumi set is ₩13,000, and the basic side dishes arrived right after we ordered.

Generous portion of seaweed soup

I love restaurants that serve japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) as a side dish, and they had it, so I was thrilled, haha. The seaweed soup came in a generous portion too, with a rich, flavorful broth that went really well with the spicy jjukkumi.

How to eat the jjukkumi with the hot-pot rice

With the jjukkumi and hot-pot rice both on the table, the spread felt really hearty. The jjukkumi pieces were genuinely huge. They weren't tough at all — tender and delicious.

Here's how you eat it: once the hot-pot rice arrives, scoop the rice into a bowl, top it with jjukkumi, drizzle on the perilla oil that comes with it, and mix it all together. A big mouthful of that was so good.

The spicy jjukkumi and nutty perilla oil worked together perfectly! The portion was quite generous too, so we ended up very full. Getting jjukkumi and a hot-pot rice set for this price feels totally reasonable — I think I'll be back often, haha.

Finishing with nurungji (scorched rice) and myeongnan (pollack roe)

Lastly, we had nurungji (scorched rice). We poured hot water over the scorched rice left in the pot, waited a bit, then topped it with the pollack roe that came as a side dish. The combination of the savory scorched rice and salty pollack roe was addictive — even though we were full, we ended up finishing every last bit, haha. If you're looking for hot-pot rice in Hanam, pairing it with jjukkumi here would be great.

Also, I found out you get a Han River ramyeon if you write a Naver receipt review! I was too full from the nurungji to try it, but I'll definitely have it next time.

This was just a short window of free time after dropping the kids off, but the great atmosphere and delicious food made it a really pleasant outing. If you're looking for a Hanam jjukkumi restaurant or good hot-pot rice in Hanam, I'd recommend this place! Another satisfying meal today :)
