Sunday 8pm gopchang restaurant in Bangi-dong, Seoul: Jinseong Hanwoo
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a beef gopchang (grilled beef intestines) and daechang (grilled beef large intestines) restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. A regular at the Sindang branch visited the Bangi branch for the first time on a Sunday at 8pm and ordered two portions of beef gopchang, one portion of beef daechang and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice, then added one more portion of gopchang. Waiting here means writing your name on the restaurant window, but the wait was short, and the minari-and-garlic sauce plus three kinds of house-made kimchi made the meal worth it.

Hi, this is Imchelin. Today I went to Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in the Bangi-dong food alley.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is a chain known for its delicious gopchang, house-made kimchi, and minari sauce — I've been to the Sindang branch many times but this was my first visit to the Bangi-dong branch. Sindang was so good that I had high hopes for Bangi too. Let's get into the review.

What the Bangi-dong restaurant looks like, outside and in
Interior and exterior of the restaurant

You could tell from outside that the place was packed. A real Bangi-dong hotspot, as expected. Because there's usually a wait, there are lots of chairs set up out front — we visited on a Sunday at 8pm.

What to order: two portions of beef gopchang, one daechang, kkakdugi fried rice
Here's the menu. We ordered two portions of beef gopchang, one portion of beef daechang, and one "house-made" kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice. You have to try the kkakdugi fried rice here — it's practically Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang's signature fried rice.

This sauce loaded with minari (water celery) and garlic pairs perfectly with gopchang and daechang, which can get a little heavy — hands down, the best gopchang sauce I've ever had, and that's what Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang delivers.

The seasoned chives were also delicious. Not too salty, well seasoned, and they go great with the gopchang — I'd recommend grilling them too.

How the waitlist works: writing your name on the window
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi branch was full at 8pm on a Sunday, but we got lucky and a seat opened up, so we got in without waiting.

When there's a wait, you write your name on the store window! After that, you sit outside and wait to be called — if you're not there when they call you, you get skipped to the next name, so make sure to stay nearby while waiting. The food comes out fast, and the wait itself isn't too long.

They clearly take pride in serving good-quality gopchang. This is a restaurant that's never once let me down.

Potatoes, rice cakes and three kinds of house-made kimchi
At first we ordered one each of gopchang and daechang, two portions total, and got two potatoes and four rice cakes on the side. Fried in the beef fat, they're irresistible haha — and yes, delicious as always.
The three kinds of house-made kimchi are cut for you at the table — all three are good, and the scallion kimchi in particular is amazing, whether grilled or eaten as is.

The signature kkakdugi fried rice
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang's signature house-made kkakdugi fried rice! The garlic and house-made kkakdugi (radish kimchi) make it a work of art. You have to try this. The shredded radish is great too — it's perfect.

How did the beef gopchang and daechang taste?
The gopchang and daechang were both loaded with fat and really high quality.

Gopchang with minari sauce is love. Savory, with absolutely no gamey smell. The sauce balances out the fattiness of the gopchang so well that before you know it, it's all gone.

The daechang had tons of fat, no gamey smell at all, and was really savory. Eating it with kimchi, bean sprouts, chives, cheongyang chili, and minari sauce is just amazing... I'm drooling just writing this 🤤

The extra portion of gopchang we added!! It was so good we ordered one more portion. Two people can't really get by on just two portions.
Is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Bangi-dong worth it?
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, a Bangi-dong favorite, gave us a great meal. The gopchang and daechang were fat-filled and high quality with no gamey smell, and the side dishes were so good I want to go back. If you're in Bangi-dong wondering which gopchang restaurant to pick, why not try Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang? You won't regret it.
