Seongdong Korean BBQ special course, served medium: Marblejeong

In short

Marblejeong is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, serving Korean beef in multi-cut courses. I tried the Korean Beef Special Course, with staff grilling every cut, plus doenjang-jjigae and sesame-oil steamed egg. Verdict: a relaxed pick for a group meal after exploring Seongsu.

A Korean beef special course in Seongsu

Seongsu has become seriously hot lately. I think I’ve already been there three times just between last month and this month! Today, I want to introduce Marblejeong (마블정), a great place for a Seongsu company dinner.

Marblejeong is on the second floor of the building. At first glance, I wondered if it was a barbecue restaurant.

Directions to Marblejeong on the second floor of the building

As it turned out, it really was a barbecue restaurant, selling a range of courses! There are several special courses, so I think it would be nice to come and try one.

These days, every restaurant seems to have such a variety of review events, and they keep getting better..! At Marblejeong, you can get Häagen-Dazs ice cream for free...? I was so full that day that I couldn’t do the Häagen-Dazs event, but next time I visit, I’m definitely writing a review and trying it.

A wine-bar-like interior and the basic spread

Inside, it actually had more of a wine-bar atmosphere. You could see that they offer a wide variety of dishes beyond just meat.

The basic side dishes also came out nicely, like this.

I also liked that there were lots of dipping sauces to choose from.

I ordered the Korean Beef Special Course. It was great because I could enjoy a variety of cuts.

Staff grilling that makes group dinners easy

Most of all, when you have a Seongsu company dinner or get-together, you know how everyone wonders who will end up grilling the meat. But at Marblejeong, the staff grilled everything themselves from beginning to end.

Can you practically see the sound of the meat sizzling?

I also ordered doenjang-jjigae (soybean-paste stew) to have with the meat, along with steamed egg. Interestingly, the steamed egg was topped with sesame oil.

Here’s a bowl of the doenjang-jjigae. It was nice to enjoy it with potatoes and tofu.

The steamed egg was wonderfully fluffy and really delicious, too.

I’d been so hungry after a long day of shopping and looking around Seongsu that I ordered the steamed egg and a bowl of rice, then polished them off in no time.

I also took a few photos while they grilled the meat along the way.

Once you’ve been somewhere that grills it for you, it’s hard to go back to grilling it yourself haha.

Korean beef cuts cooked medium

Since it was a special course where I could enjoy a range of premium cuts at once, I got to try each cut in turn. I think I liked it even more because it was served medium.

And because I was tired after all that Seongsu shopping and sightseeing, I ordered sparkling water instead of a drink haha.

Wine displays and aged meat

On the way out, I didn’t forget to collect my Dodo Points either haha.

There were lovely wine displays throughout the restaurant. They suited the atmosphere perfectly. If I plan my next Seongsu company dinner at Marblejeong, I’ll definitely order wine too!

When I came out after paying, I saw Korean beef and samgyeopsal (pork belly) being aged. The pork belly wasn’t ordinary pork belly either—it was wine-aged pork belly.

Marblejeong is my recommendation for a Seongsu company dinner: a refined setting where you can enjoy several premium cuts at once, made even better because the staff grill them for you.
