Seoul Korean BBQ with smoke-free grilling: Marblejeong
In short
Marblejeong is a Korean beef barbecue restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul. I had 150g each of galbisal and upjinsal, plus Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap, while staff handled the grilling. Verdict: a comfortable pick for excellent Korean beef without the lingering smoke smell.

A Korean beef restaurant in Seongsu with parking
I had suuuch delicious Korean beef in Seongsu! 🐮♥️
There are so many great places to eat and things to do around Seongsu, but parking is always the concern when you bring a car, right? Marblejeong (마블정), where I visited this time, had parking right in the heart of Seongsu, Seoul, so I liked it from the start. Haha. Parking can be a surprisingly big headache when making plans in Seongsu, so being able to drive to Marblejeong was really convenient.

The galbisal, upjinsal, and yukhoe bibimbap combination
I ordered 150g of galbisal (beef rib meat), 150g of upjinsal (beef brisket cap), and Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap (rice mixed with seasoned raw beef)! I really want to recommend this combination!!! The beef itself was so good that it was delicious even with just a light dip in salt, without adding all sorts of sides.
This is what the inside looks like!

The restaurant was spacious, with comfortable space between tables, so it felt pleasant! There are also separate private rooms, which seemed great not only for family meals but also for anyone looking for a Seongsu-dong venue for a company dinner. When you come for Korean beef with coworkers, it is hard to talk if it is too loud and chaotic, right? This place felt neat and relaxed overall, so it looked well suited to gatherings and company dinners too.

The beef I ordered that day was 150g of galbisal and 150g of upjinsal. As soon as it arrived, I was happy with how it looked! Marblejeong says it serves 1++ Korean beef, and seeing the condition of the meat definitely got me excited. And even if a menu says 150g, some places make you wonder, “Is this really 150g?” because the portion feels small. Here, the meat came generously, so ordering and enjoying the two cuts together was very satisfying.

Galbisal that was great with just salt
My all-time favorite is galbisal 🩶 It is my favorite cut of beef, and of course it was delicious ㅠㅠ It was tender to chew, with a rich, savory flavor spreading through my mouth. Truly good meat does not need complicated seasoning, right? I first tried it with just a little salt, and that was more than enough. It was tender and nutty, the kind of flavor where you can keep eating piece after piece!

There were also lots of different dipping sauces, so afterward I tried them one by one. It was the same galbisal, but the flavor changed slightly depending on the sauce, which meant I could enjoy it without getting tired of it until the end. If you are going out for Korean beef in Seongsu, galbisal is a cut I personally really recommend.

Upjinsal, the unexpected standout
The unexpected standout that day was the upjinsal. I love galbisal so much that I honestly was not expecting much from upjinsal. But this was sooo good....? 😱 While galbisal has that tender, rich charm, upjinsal was pleasantly chewy with an intense beefy aroma. The more I chewed, the more deeply I could taste the meat itself, so people who prefer the distinctive beef aroma of Korean beef over the richness of fat may actually like upjinsal more. That is why I personally recommend the galbisal + upjinsal combination rather than choosing just one! Alternating between the tender and chewy cuts made both the texture and flavor much more fun.
Why staff grilling and low-smoke dining were so nice
And something I really loved about Marblejeong! The experienced staff grill the meat to the right doneness from start to finish.
There is nothing sadder than ordering expensive Korean beef and overcooking it yourself ㅠㅠ Here, they grill it so you can enjoy it at its best, so I could simply relax, wait, and eat the meat when it was perfect. The best doneness differs a little by cut, and having them take care of it made things much easier. At a company dinner, no one has to spend the whole time grilling instead of talking, which is another reason I thought it would be a good Seongsu-dong company-dinner spot. Another fascinating thing was the grill!

Marblejeong uses a downward ventilation system, unlike the usual setup where smoke rises straight upward. So even after grilling and eating meat for quite a while, there was hardly any meat smell on my clothes or hair, which I loved..💕 You may want beef, but if you have plans afterward, the smell clinging to your clothes can be a little bothersome, right? Especially if you are having a date in Seongsu or eating before or after an appointment, I felt this was a pretty big advantage.
A filling finish with Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap
It would have been a shame to end with only meat, so I ordered Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap as well.

Even when you are fairly full from meat, Koreans know that a meal does not feel complete without a little rice at the end, haha. The yukhoe was such good quality too—it practically melted in my mouth... With the yukhoe included, it was a great way to end the meal feeling full. After galbisal and upjinsal, finishing with yukhoe bibimbap made it feel like I had enjoyed a proper Korean beef course that day!
I also heard there is a discount when you purchase Korean beef for takeout. The alcohol prices did not seem overly burdensome either, so it looked like a good choice for company dinners or gatherings. It could also be nice to take home quality Korean beef and enjoy grilling it with family or friends at home!
After eating at Marblejeong myself, what I liked most was the quality of the meat itself and the comfortable dining environment. As 1++ Korean beef, it was good enough with just a light dip in salt, and my favorite galbisal was, as expected, tender and savory. The upjinsal, which I had not expected much from, was actually memorable for its chewy texture and deep beefy aroma. Best of all, the staff grilled it deliciously, and the special grill meant I barely had to worry about a meat smell after the meal! If you are looking for a good Seongsu-dong restaurant with parking in central Seoul, a Seongsu-dong company-dinner venue with private rooms, or properly good Korean beef in Seongsu, keep Marblejeong in mind.
