My husband and I decided on Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch in Buk-gu, Daegu for a family meal, wanting to "oil up" on beef. We visited on a weekday lunch and it was clearly popular with the older folks and office workers in the area — a real Chimsan-dong local favorite.

Not only is the beef quality great, but at lunchtime they also sell a variety of good-value lunch specials. And you know the rule — when a place is full of older regulars, it's guaranteed to be a genuine neighborhood favorite~

I went in with high expectations, and sure enough, the meat quality was excellent, the side dish lineup was great value, and the service was a pleasant surprise too... I recommend this Chimsan-dong beef restaurant as a "Daegu beef restaurant" for anyone considering a spot for a family meal or group dinner!! 🍖

🚊By subway, it's a 374m walk from Exit 1 of Daegu Station, or take bus 706 or 653 from Daegu Station Buk-pyeon Intersection 1 and get off at CBS Broadcasting Station. 🚏By bus, it's about a 5-minute walk from Dongchimsan Intersection or CBS Broadcasting Station stops.

On one side there's an open kitchen where they slice the fresh meat right there, which gave me a lot of confidence in the quality!! Also, the countless awards and plaques on the wall ✨ seemed to prove it really is a top beef restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Daegu.

Looking at the seating, it's divided into private sections and every seat is a sofa seat, which made staying comfortable. The interior of Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch was enormous. ✔️It's a spacious, comfortable size that's perfect for group visits.

Baby chairs are standard, and there's even a playroom on one side for kids to play in. It's a space where you can comfortably enjoy anything from a meal with children to a group gathering, so I'd recommend it as a spot for family meals or group get-togethers!!

I thought the side dishes served with the meal were delicious, and it turns out they sell homemade side dishes separately too. This place is a crab spot too, haha.

After ordering via the tablet, they brought charcoal to the table. Everything needed was stored under the table, so it was easy to use.

✔️The basic side dishes were set out looking neat and appetizing. Among them were yangnyeom gejang (soy-marinated crab), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), green onion kimchi, cabbage kimchi, seaweed, salad and more — all great for whetting your appetite. My husband and I took a bite of each and kept exclaiming how good it was, that this place really has skilled hands haha 👏

The great-quality beef came out — remember, your first order can be a full portion or a half+half combo. 🥩I ordered half fresh short rib + half skirt steak, with me picking skirt steak and my husband picking short rib. Since the beef is trimmed right at the open kitchen, the color of the meat is just gorgeous, isn't it 👏
