Jeonpo-dong curry restaurant with homemade kkakdugi: Sarugak20

I visited Sarugak20, famous as a curry restaurant in Jeonpo-dong! I've also been here on my own dime before, so I can confirm this is a genuinely good spot haha.

Where is Sarugak20 and what are its hours?

Sarugak20 is at 78 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil, B1, Busanjin-gu, Busan (Jeonpo-dong), South Korea. Hours are 10:00–19:30, with last order at 19:00.

Sarugak20 is a 5-minute walk from Jeonpo Station Exit 8 — just head up from the Busan Bank intersection toward Jeonpo 1-dong Community Center. It's a bit of an uphill climb, haha, but you'll get there quickly! It's located directly across from the 1st floor entrance of the community center, so it was easy to find. With hours of 10:00–19:30, it's good for lunch or an early dinner. Parking looked tough, though, as is typical in Jeonpo-dong ㅠ.ㅠ

Can you bring a dog to Sarugak20, and on what conditions?

Sarugak20 is in the basement so you have to go down, but there's a handrail installed so you can descend safely! And a great thing about Sarugak20 is that pets are allowed. You'll need to keep them on a leash or in a carrier, and you'll need to show vaccination info too.

Does anyone remember Moru Sikdang, the old fixture of Jeonpo Cafe Street? Hahaha. I was sad when Moru Sikdang closed, so I'm so relieved Sarugak20 remains as its second branch.

The interior feels like a warm, cozy café in Japan!! Haha. And the atmosphere is on the quiet side, so it's comfortable for solo dining too.

There's also floor seating, so we ate cozily at a floor table.

The owner's kindness combined with the warm atmosphere of the shop made it hard to leave...hahaha.

They actually sell cute little items too. There were bracelets and handmade keyrings, and even a rattan bag — and the prices overall are pretty reasonable, not too pricey! Haha. I bought a handmade keyring before and I'm still using it well :)

I was also surprised to find a sink prepared for washing your hands, complete with hand cream — I was impressed by the owner's attention to detail.

You can add extra toppings too — I saw people adding lots of scrambled egg to the half-and-half curry. Next time I'll have to try adding scrambled egg to my half-and-half curry too haha. The look of it alone is amazing 👍 There's a review event where you can get a soda or grapefruit juice, so write a review and enjoy ♥

You can also order frozen curry for takeout or delivery! Cream curry and spinach curry are ₩5,000, miso curry and beef curry are ₩6,000. Delivery riders were coming by too. I'm jealous of anyone who lives near Sarugak20 — you can enjoy it at home too!! Haha.

Tasting the brisket cream curry, half-and-half curry and sweet potato cheese croquettes

I ordered brisket cream curry, half-and-half curry, and sweet potato cheese croquettes! I can't resist croquettes with curry~~~

They neatly gave us a utensil holder with tissues, spoons and forks. Even the water cup is small and cute >ㅁ<

Personally, I'd recommend the half-and-half curry to first-timers at Sarugak20. It's a great option since you can enjoy both cream curry and special curry at once!! Both are delicious, but speaking as someone who's tried them — the cream curry is definitely the smoother one.

The special curry combines a rich curry base with cheese, so you can really taste the deep curry flavor. Which one's better? Honestly it's hard for me to choose..ㅠ Both are so good...♥

Sarugak20's homemade kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi)

And of course, curry needs kimchi. They serve kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) that's homemade and delicious. It's also easy to eat with a fork, which makes it way more convenient than napa cabbage kimchi.

Is the brisket cream curry enough for two to share?

Brisket cream curry, a combo of savory brisket and smooth cream curry! Brisket in curry.. is the owner some kind of genius?

The brisket portion was generous too, so it turned out to be more than expected — my partner and I happily shared it.

As someone who thinks curry needs at least a little spice!!!! The cream curry's spice level was just right for me, hehe. With cream, it can easily get greasy, but this didn't. The brisket wasn't tough or smelly either, so it was really enjoyable. They also sell Ebisu draft beer and ramune, which I think would go great with the curry.

The moment you bite in, the cheese stretches way out. The sweet potato and cheese combo makes this a side dish I really want to recommend! Haha. Since it comes as two pieces, it's nice for sharing one each. Be sure to order the sweet potato cheese croquettes along with your curry.

We cleaned our plates completely...hahaha. It was so good that it was a shame every time the portion got smaller. Confirmed: a top curry restaurant in Jeonpo, Busan. Case closed.
