Anniversary lunch course at Pangyo Japanese restaurant Suyori Sikdang
In short
Suyori Sikdang is a Japanese course-meal restaurant on the basement level of Pangyoyeok-ro in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, seating guests mainly at the counter. A couple booked through Catch Table for an anniversary date and ate the 45,000-won-per-person lunch omakase, which ran from shiitake and gamtae (seaweed) porridge and steamed abalone through sushi, eggplant tempura, udon and yuja sorbet. For a quiet course meal in Pangyo without a heavy bill, Suyori Sikdang is well worth booking for an anniversary.

Why we chose Suyori Sikdang in Pangyo for an anniversary date
Suyori Sikdang is a Japanese course-meal specialist on the basement floor of Building B, 230 Pangyoyeok-ro. The lunch omakase is ₩45,000 per person, so I picked it while looking for somewhere in Pangyo that wouldn't break the bank but still served a proper course.

I went to Suyori Sikdang, a Japanese course restaurant in Pangyo haha. I was looking for somewhere to go with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and picked this place in Pangyo because it wasn't too pricey but still had a proper course. We booked ahead through Catch Table and went for the lunch omakase.

Parking and atmosphere: a small room with counter seats only
Parking was so convenient lol. Using the building's basement lot gets you 2 hours free, and on weekends parking is completely free.
The restaurant was smaller than I expected, but the moment we walked in it felt clean and cozy. The whole space is bar-style counter seating, no separate rooms! The seats weren't crammed together, so it was actually nice and quiet to eat in, with a subtly upscale feel too haha.

Since we'd made a reservation, our seats were already neatly set up when we arrived. Pickled radish, ginger, and miso soup were all generously set out, and the water came in one of those retro Del Monte orange glass bottles lol. That randomly brought back memories and made me weirdly happy.
Suyori Sikdang lunch omakase price and booking times
The lunch omakase is ₩45,000 per person! We ordered for two. Per Naver Reservation, lunch runs in two seatings — 11:40am and 1pm — and takeout is also available. Dinner has no fixed seating, so you can just book and come whenever, though the closing time is the same, worth keeping in mind. Now let's really get into this Japanese course in Pangyo, go go.

Course opener: shiitake gamtae porridge and steamed abalone with liver sauce
The first dish was a warm shiitake gamtae (seaweed) porridge. It wasn't as watery as I expected — the rice grains were softly broken down and slid smoothly down my throat. The shiitake aroma spread first, subtly, followed by a hint of the ocean scent from the gamtae, and it wasn't overly seasoned, so it eased my stomach right from the start.
Next was steamed abalone with gejang (crab roe) sauce. The abalone looked quite thick, and it wasn't chewy or bouncy at all — more soft and tender. As I chewed, a subtle sweetness came through, and the gejang sauce was rich and velvety, totally my type haha. A tiny bit of rice came on the side too, and dipping it in the sauce made the savory organ flavor soak right into the grains — delicious.

The sashimi plate
The sashimi came as several kinds, small portions on one plate. Overall the slices weren't thin — they were thick, so the chew was really satisfying.

The tuna was moist and soft, breaking apart easily, while the white fish was firm and clean, so the texture kept changing even within one plate — nice.
Which sushi came out, from truffle flounder to uni with gamtae
Now onto the sushi. The flounder sushi had a subtle truffle aroma rising over the springy flounder. If the truffle is too strong it can drown out the fish flavor, but here it only followed faintly in the back, so the combo worked well haha.

The red seabream had slightly firmer flesh than the flounder. It snapped cleanly with a bounce as I chewed, with a subtle sweetness coming through, and eating it with the rice made everything feel clean overall.

The smoked mejimaguro (young bluefin tuna) had a subtle aroma even before I took a bite. In the mouth, the fish was moist and soft, and after swallowing a faint smoky scent came through the nose. It wasn't a style where the smoky flavor overwhelms everything, which I liked.

The mini kaisendon came in a small bowl with rice and seafood, served with a large piece of seaweed on the side lol. Eating it wrapped in the seaweed was way better than just eating it plain lol. When you put the soft seafood and rice on the seaweed and take a bite, the seaweed crumbles crisply at the end and the savory flavor bursts.

The herring sushi was noticeably oilier and more savory than the white fish. A deep richness rose up through the moist flesh, and the pickled ginger on top gave the finish a refreshing lift, so it ended up feeling lighter than expected.

The squid was so pretty just from the tightly scored cuts haha. The first bite was bouncy, but after a few more chews it turned slightly chewy and a subtle sweetness came through.

The akami (lean tuna) had such vivid color it caught my eye right away. Rather than the oiliness of fatty tuna, it was centered on a clean, pure fish flavor, and with a touch of basil pesto added, a fragrant note lingered at the end — a surprisingly good combo.

Eggplant tempura midway through the course
The eggplant tempura that came mid-course was also a hidden gem ♥. The outside was lightly crisp while the eggplant inside was full of moisture and super soft. There was even shrimp inside, so amid the tender eggplant there was a bouncy texture too, and the sauce underneath soaked in for extra savoriness.

The fatty tuna belly sushi was much paler in color than the akami we'd had earlier haha. Before I even chewed much, the flesh melted softly apart and the savory richness of the fat spread through my mouth! The rice held it up from behind, so it wasn't overwhelmingly rich.
The mackerel sushi I wrapped in seaweed and ate straight with my hands, and this combo was great lol. Behind the mackerel's rich, oily savoriness, the seaweed crumbled crisply and a toasty aroma burst through haha. There was a hint of that blue-fish scent, but the savoriness was what stuck with me more than any fishiness!

The uni gamtae sushi looked unusual from the start. Thread-thin gamtae was wrapped around it, and in one bite the seaweed melted away, releasing a salty ocean aroma. The uni inside was soft and creamy, so eating it together with the gamtae made it sweet yet deeply rich.
The futomaki was just one piece but it was densely packed and had some real heft to it lol. My boyfriend finished it in one bite... but my mouth is small so I couldn't fit it all in one go, ha. The soft texture of the crab meat mixed with the crisp crunch of cucumber, so even with so many ingredients packed in, it never felt overwhelming and I enjoyed it all the way through.

Finishing with udon, mixed tempura and yuja sorbet
After going through all the sushi, warm udon showed up haha. The noodles weren't the super chewy type but rather soft and smooth going down, and the broth was clear and light. A subtle mushroom aroma spread too, so even feeling full, I kept spooning up the broth.

The mixed tempura came with shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and shishito pepper. The batter wasn't thick and was lightly crisp, which I liked, while the fillings inside were moist haha. The shrimp especially had a bouncy interior, contrasting nicely with the crispy outside.

Last was the yuja sorbet. It melted with a cold, granular crunch, and the yuja's bright, slightly bitter aroma spread through instantly haha. It felt like it swept away all the heaviness left in my mouth from the sushi and tempura, making it the perfect finish haha.
Is Suyori Sikdang worth it for an anniversary meal in Pangyo?
At the very generous price of ₩45,000 per person, the courses kept coming without a break — sashimi, sushi, kaisendon, tempura, udon, and dessert — so I ended up quite full. What was especially nice was that it wasn't just one style repeating; warm dishes and tempura were mixed in between, which made the meal more fun to eat through lol.
If you're looking for a Japanese course meal in Pangyo but want to avoid anything too pricey, or you're after somewhere quiet for an anniversary dinner, I'd strongly recommend Suyori Sikdang in Pangyo.
