Korean BBQ lunch with a friend: thick Iberico pork neck for two
In short
Dwaeji Mansion Pangyo Avenue France Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, where staff grill Iberico pork tableside. Visiting around 1pm with a friend, the writer ordered thick Iberico pork neck 150g for two, white kimchi noodles, and rice, with the thick cuts grilled twice so the meat stayed juicy instead of tough. With herring roe sauce, garlic stems, scallion salad, and wasabi on the side, the same cut of meat could be enjoyed several different ways.

Hi everyone~~ It's Chami! I met up with a friend in Pangyo for lunch after a while. I wanted something hearty but a little different from the usual pork, haha. So I went to Dwaeji Mansion, a well-known spot in Pangyo Avenue France where you can enjoy Iberico pork. The herring roe served alongside the meat was especially savory and delicious! If you're looking for a great pork restaurant in Pangyo, this one's worth checking out~~~
Menu and order combination at Dwaeji Mansion Pangyo

Here's the Dwaeji Mansion menu~~ At first we thought about trying the regular pork neck, called Insaeng Moksal, but as we looked through the menu, the Iberico thick pork neck caught our eye~ So we ordered:
- ✔️ Iberico thick pork neck 150g for two
- ✔️ White kimchi noodles
- ✔️ Rice
That's what we ordered~~~
What's the atmosphere and seating like?
It seems like a lot of celebrities have visited this Pangyo Dwaeji Mansion. In particular, they have plates signed by celebrities mounted on the wall like this haha. I'd never seen that before, so it was fun to look around and check them out~~

We visited around 1pm and there were quite a few people there for lunch. There were more seats than I expected, and the tables were spaced generously, so it was comfortable to eat without feeling cramped. I thought it would also make a good spot for a work dinner in Pangyo!
The overall vibe of the restaurant felt clean and hygienic! And there was a sense of openness to the space that I liked.
The basic table setting
This is the basic table setting at Dwaeji Mansion. Garlic stems, spicy sauce, herring roe sauce, salt, white kimchi, wasabi, ginger, pickled red pepper, and pickled wood ear mushroom all came out! These were great side dishes to eat alongside the Iberico pork neck~~ It was different from the usual, more predictable banchan (side dish) spread, with more special options, which I really liked!

The scallion salad went really well with the meat too, spicy and refreshing! And there was fragrant minari (water celery) served alongside as well, which paired nicely with the meat. The combination of the pork's mild flavor with the fragrant minari was better than I expected~~
How do they grill the Iberico thick pork neck for two?
They say Iberico pork neck has a nutty richness and a slightly sweet fat aroma. It's also described as pork with a high proportion of unsaturated fat like oleic acid, which made it feel healthier somehow~~ The Iberico pork neck came out neatly plated with scallions, garlic, minari, and king oyster mushrooms!

Ta-da~~ Look at this thick, thick Iberico pork neck~~~! The marbling looked great too, so appetizing right?! The meat was so thick I wondered 'how are they going to grill this?' but thankfully the staff grilled it for us themselves, piece by piece!
Can you see it sizzling away? Doesn't it look amazing? As the thick Iberico pork neck grilled to a golden brown, the juices started coming out, and just watching made my mouth water!!

The staff grilled the meat so well that we could just relax and chat while we waited! They got the doneness exactly right too, so it wasn't tough at all and was delicious~~

First they roasted the king oyster mushrooms, scallions, garlic, and minari, and then let the meat wait a bit longer before grilling it a second time. Maybe because it was such a thick cut, but it was impressive that they didn't grill it all at once — instead, in two rounds!

The staff grilled it professionally, watching the condition of the meat, so we could definitely enjoy it more!

Here's the second round of grilling~~ Since the Iberico thick pork neck was so thick, they cut it once first, then grilled it again so the inside cooked through to a nice golden brown!
The sizzling sound and mild aroma of the meat wafting up really got the appetite going~~

They cut it into bite-sized pieces for us. Since it's the pork neck cut, it didn't feel overly fatty and was on the milder side, so we could eat it deliciously without feeling weighed down!

Finally, the perfectly grilled thick Iberico pork neck! Dipped it in salt and the juices just burst out — truly tender and springy. Definitely different from regular pork neck!!

The mild flavor unique to pork neck combined with the salty taste of the salt really brought out the savoriness~~! I worried the thick cut might be tough, but it was much more tender and moist than expected — delicious!

The meeting of salty salt and chewy, springy king oyster mushrooms! The meat had a great chewy, springy texture, and the grilled king oyster mushroom was also springy and chewy, so eating them together was so delicious.

Herring roe sauce and garlic stem combination
The meeting of herring roe sauce and garlic stems~~ Adding herring roe sauce to the Iberico pork neck brought a spicy, savory depth, and adding garlic stems on top gave it a crisp, refreshing feel — they really went well together!

Scallion salad combination
It was really delicious eaten with the scallion salad too. Adding scallion salad to the mild Iberico thick pork neck added a spicy, refreshing note along with a crunchy texture, which was really good. Eating meat non-stop can get a bit greasy, but the spicy, crunchy scallion salad cleaned the palate in between bites, which I liked.

Wasabi combination
The Iberico thick pork neck was also delicious with wasabi. A touch of the sharp wasabi gave it a subtle sushi-like flavor and somehow made it taste more sophisticated~~ As the juices flowed moistly from the thick pork neck and the sharp wasabi was added, they brought out the best in each other, and it was really delicious!

Pickled wood ear mushroom
This is the pickled wood ear mushroom~~ I'm normally not a fan of wood ear mushroom tossed in sour vinegar, but this one was pickled in soy sauce, so it had a sweet and savory-salty flavor. It went really well with the mild Iberico pork neck too. I don't usually eat much of it, but it was so good I kept picking at it without realizing!
Should you order the white kimchi noodles too?
Definitely try the white kimchi noodles if you visit Dwaeji Mansion! It's a dish that really goes well with the meat~~! True to its name, the broth was refreshing and had crisp white kimchi in it, making it light and clean to eat!

It had a chili condiment mixed in, which added savoriness and a slight spicy kick. It also had a hint of dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) flavor, which felt like it cleaned the palate after eating meat. Paired with the mild Iberico pork neck, it was a great combination!
How is it for lunch or a work dinner in Pangyo?
It had been a while since I met up with a friend for lunch in Pangyo, and I was satisfied to properly enjoy delicious Iberico pork at Dwaeji Mansion~~! The staff grilled the thick, juicy pork neck for us themselves, and with all the different accompaniments like herring roe sauce, garlic stems, scallion salad, and wasabi, we could enjoy the same meat in several different ways! The restaurant was clean and the tables were spaced generously, making it great not just for eating with a friend but also for a work dinner spot in Pangyo! If you're looking for a special pork restaurant in Pangyo Avenue France, be sure to stop by Dwaeji Mansion to try the Iberico pork neck~~~
