Munjeong Station pork belly and cheonggukjang stew: Minari Naengsam

In short

Minari Naengsam is a frozen pork belly (naengsam) restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, next to the M-State building by Munjeong Station, and it refills minari (water dropwort) endlessly at no extra charge. On a weekday visit at 7pm, minari flower naengsam and minari fresh pork belly roseu came to 15,900 won, with rustic cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) at 7,900 won alongside draft beer. Minari Naengsam suits anyone who wants to taste thin frozen pork belly and thick fresh pork belly side by side in one sitting.

A Munjeong Station pork belly spot with unlimited minari

One night I really wanted meat, and Minari Naengsam near Munjeong Station was packed even on a weekday evening. In Palgongsan, Daegu, there are minari farms where people grill pork belly with minari in greenhouses, but places selling minari pork belly are hard to find in Seoul, ugh. Even where it exists, you usually pay extra for the minari — but at this Munjeong-dong minari naengsam spot, the minari refills are unlimited, the meat quality is excellent, and the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and fried rice are delicious too!!! I found a great Munjeong Station restaurant after a long time, haha.

Minari Naengsam location, parking and opening hours

Walk straight from Exit 4 of Munjeong Station toward M-State, turn left past Geumbyeol Beer, and Minari Naengsam is right there. For parking, use the M-State building's basement lot — they support 2.5 hours. It's also walkable from Exit 3 of Munjeong Station, and there are plenty of good outdoor-seating restaurants nearby, so the atmosphere is great!!!

Closed on public holidays and every Sunday. Open Monday through Saturday, 15:00–24:00. Since it opens early, it seems good for daytime drinking too.

What Minari Naengsam feels like at 7pm on a weekday

I visited around 7pm on a weekday and there were already a ton of people. It's affordable, tasty, and has a nice atmosphere, so it seems like a lot of Munjeong office workers come here. They used to have outdoor seating too, but they've stopped it recently for unavoidable reasons — still, the indoor space has a good vibe and the owner is friendly!

What is on the Minari Naengsam menu?

Minari Naengsam's signature dish is minari flower naengsam, and beyond that there's also chadolbaegi (thinly sliced beef brisket), fresh pork belly, and regular naengsam, among other options.

Basic table setup with kimchi and minari

The table setting and how minari refills work

They set the table with kimchi and minari by default, and the minari was fresh — they kept refilling it right away without making you feel bad about eating a lot, which I really loved, haha.

The sauces, green onion kimchi, and green onion salad side dishes were also good, so I already liked it from the setup alone, haha.

A glass of draft beer ordered at Minari Naengsam

A glass of draft beer, ahhh. Lots of people come here after work for a draft beer, and naengsam pairs better with beer than you'd expect.

What kind of meat is minari flower naengsam?

Minari flower naengsam has a great nutty flavor, and I heard it's made by flash-freezing only the best cuts of meat.

Thin naengsam meat cooked quickly on the grill

It really cooks up in no time, which is great — you can eat right away without waiting, so it's good to go when you're hungry and eat a ton, haha.

A piece of naengsam wrapped in minari
Naengsam and minari sprinkled with pepper

It's great wrapped in rice or minari, and even though it's thin, both the texture and flavor were good. Every table has pepper on it, and since I'm a pepper lover, I sprinkled it on generously. So good ~

Minari fresh pork belly roseu, 15,900 won

Minari Fresh Pork Belly, 15,900 won. I saw a lot of people ordering the thick pork belly too, so I followed suit — it was genuinely delicious. Apparently meat like this is really the good stuff.

The thickness was just right, and with the fat marbling it was nutty and chewy — such delicious pork belly, ugh. I want to eat it again right now,,, it was so good here that I actually started wanting to live in Munjeong-dong, haha.

Rustic cheonggukjang ordered as a side, 7,900 won. I'm not usually a fan of cheonggukjang, but the smell wasn't too strong here, so it was fine.

The rich cheonggukjang broth had soft tofu in it, and I ate it happily! A lot of people were also ordering the fried rice, but I was too full to try it, haha.

When Minari Naengsam in Munjeong-dong is worth the trip

A true Munjeong-dong gem I'd want to revisit — Minari Naengsam, a great naengsam restaurant in Munjeong-dong. Both the naengsam and the fresh pork belly are delicious here, making it a good spot for a draft beer and naengsam after work, or for company dinners and get-togethers. Recommended!
