Bisan-dong grilled fish spot under an Anyang kids center: Hwaddeugeuro

After a fun round of hands-on play with my kid upstairs, my stomach was suddenly growling. I don't know why food tastes so much better after playing hard, haha. Coming down to the first floor to find somewhere to eat, I spotted a newly opened mackerel restaurant and just naturally wandered in. I only meant for the two of us to have something simple, but the atmosphere turned out to be nicer than expected and the food was delicious too — we left very satisfied.

The first thing that caught my eye walking in was the clean, cute interior. Everything was well organized, giving a comfortable feeling, and Pikachu cards and various animal-shaped props were tucked around the space, which my kid especially loved. It wasn't just a place to eat — there was fun to be had just looking around, which made it feel like a great spot to visit with children. Watching my kid get excited over the little props here and there put me in a good mood too.

Grilled mackerel set: seasoned mildly enough for a child

What we ordered was the grilled mackerel set. At first I thought one set would be plenty for the two of us, but once we started eating, the fish turned out to be really delicious. The mackerel was savory yet moist, and paired with rice it kept pulling us back for more. There wasn't much of that heavy fishy smell, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, so it was fine to share with my child.

Why we ended up adding a Spanish mackerel dish

Enjoying the mackerel so much, I got a little greedy and added a Spanish mackerel dish too. That turned out to be a great call. It had a savory flavor of its own, different from the mackerel, so switching between the two kept things interesting without ever getting tired of it. We'd planned to just have a light meal and leave, but in the end the two of us ate our fill of grilled fish and walked out full. My kid ate well too, which made the meal even more satisfying.

Another thing I really liked was the side dishes. The banchan (side dishes) were set out buffet-style, so we could go back and grab more of whatever we wanted. Having several side dishes alongside the grilled fish and rice made the meal feel much more filling. If you're someone who loves banchan, this is especially satisfying. Being able to eat as much as needed also made the meal feel relaxed and pressure-free.

What made it easy to visit with a child

The staff were genuinely kind too. Visiting with a child inevitably means a few extra things to worry about, but they made us feel at ease the whole meal. Combined with the taste of the food, the staff's kindness made this feel like a great place for family meals.

Playing with my kid and then having a great meal made for a fully packed day. Thanks to the clean interior and cute props, my kid had a great time, and we were happy to eat our fill of delicious mackerel and Spanish mackerel. If I come back to this area, I'd like to try other fish dishes too.
