Dongpyeon-maeul brunch café in Anyang: lasagna and gnocchi, Eggroom

In short

Eggroom is a brunch café in Dongpyeon-maeul, Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekend afternoon visit with her husband, the writer ordered Eggroom's signature lasagna (20,000 won), corn cream gnocchi (17,000 won), grilled ranch salad (10,000 won) and an iced nibs breeze (5,000 won) — enough food to fill the whole table. Eggroom has no lot of its own, so drivers use the Dongpyeon-maeul public parking lot, but the cream-and-tomato pairing of the gnocchi and lasagna was worth coming back for.

Eggroom, a weekend brunch stop in Anyang's Dongpyeon-maeul

On a weekend afternoon, my husband and I headed to Dongpyeon-maeul. The weather was so bright and clear it felt like the perfect day to enjoy brunch under a parasol on an outdoor terrace.

Eggroom's small, white-toned exterior

We usually enjoy Western food like pasta or risotto, so we went back to Eggroom, a brunch café known as a local favorite in Anyang's Dongpyeon-maeul.

Where do you park at Eggroom?

Eggroom doesn't have its own dedicated parking lot, so we parked at the Dongpyeon-maeul public parking lot and walked over. Since it was the weekend, the public lot was nearly full too, so we spent a bit of time hunting for a spot — but the thought of the delicious brunch ahead made that small hassle worth it. (It's not too far on foot from Indeokwon Station, so taking public transit could also be a good option.)

Inside Eggroom: cosy interior and a table full of brunch

Eggroom's exterior has a small, clean, white-toned look. The weather was great, so the terrace seats looked tempting too, but the sun was strong, so we decided to eat inside.

Once inside, we found the space isn't huge — about 5 tables — but the yellow accents and cute little props made it so cozy and warm, I loved it.

Looking into the space further inside Eggroom, I felt like I'd been invited into a pretty little attic.

What two people ordered at Eggroom, and what it cost

Since my husband and I visited before mealtime, we ordered generously. I picked one of my favorite menu items, Eggroom's signature lasagna (₩20,000), along with the corn cream gnocchi (₩17,000) I'd been curious about, and a grilled ranch salad (₩10,000) to add some freshness. For drinks, we decided to share a cold iced nibs breeze (₩5,000).

After ordering, a Naver receipt review event caught my eye. According to the info card, participating got you a cute handmade strawberry latte bottle, so I grabbed my receipt, joined the event, and received it early like a little appetizer.

The strawberry latte from the review event came in an adorably tiny bottle, and one sip was so sweet it lifted my mood instantly.

Taste and looks both pass: Eggroom's standout dishes

A little while later, the dishes we'd ordered started arriving one by one.

The table was so full it looked like it might overflow, and my husband and I both let out a cheer at the same time.

A table filled with lasagna, gnocchi, and salad

Grilled ranch salad, 10,000 won

The grilled ranch salad is romaine lettuce grilled whole, topped with plenty of bacon, cheese, and ranch dressing.

The nutty, tangy flavor unique to ranch dressing paired perfectly with the crunchy salad texture, whetting our appetite. It was excellent as an appetizer.

A plate of Eggroom's corn cream gnocchi

Corn cream gnocchi, 17,000 won

The corn cream gnocchi was the dish I was most looking forward to. It's a soft, nutty corn-based cream topped generously with crispy fried potato gnocchi and grilled corn.

The moment I took the first bite, I thought, 'This is the real deal!' The crispy-outside, chewy-inside gnocchi texture combined with the sweet yet nutty corn cream was fantastic.

If you're coming to Dongpyeon-maeul, this is the best-gnocchi-of-my-life dish I'd definitely recommend trying.

Eggroom's signature lasagna

Signature lasagna, 20,000 won

Lasagna is one of my husband's favorite dishes, and Eggroom's lasagna was truly delicious, layering a special ragu sauce, a secret béchamel sauce, cheese, and eggplant. The sauce was rich and deeply flavorful — the kind of taste anyone would like. The eggplant kept the texture from being one-note and added more variety. Paired with the corn cream gnocchi, the combination of cream and tomato sauce was perfect.

The iced nibs breeze we ordered to drink had an appealing bitter black tea flavor. It cleanly cut through the richness of the brunch, making it a great pairing for both dessert and the main dishes.

Eggroom's dessert case: egg tarts and more

After finishing our meal happily, we looked around the inside of the café and found the refrigerated display case and counter shelves full of eye-catching desserts.

There was a variety of baked goods — thick hwangchi cheese cookies, moist chocolate chip cookies, peanut cookies, matcha-chocolate butter bars, original butter bars — and a mini pavlova cake topped with fresh fruit was there too.

Eggroom's egg tarts on display at the counter

Inside the counter display case in particular, Eggroom's signature baked good, the egg tart (₩4,000), sat looking golden-brown and irresistible. Being the number-one best seller, it looked crispy outside and moist inside, hard to just walk past. They said gift boxing is available too, so next time I'm definitely taking home this egg tart along with some of the handmade desserts.

Is Eggroom worth a visit? Final verdict

Enjoying weekend brunch by the window at Eggroom

The weekend brunch date with my husband, our time at Eggroom, was perfect. The delicious food we enjoyed in a cozy space bathed in sunlight felt like a small gift that made us forget a week's worth of fatigue. The corn cream gnocchi and lasagna in particular were good enough that I keep thinking about them again. From the satisfying meal to the sweet egg tart, it was a perfect course, so next time I'd love to come back on a nice weekday with friends and try the other desserts too.
