Spicy gochujang straw-fire pork lunch in Songpa: Baekhyang Jipbulgui
In short
Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a straw-fire grilled pork restaurant 152m from Exit 7 of Ogeum Station in Songpa, Seoul. The gochujang pork straw-fire BBQ had no gamey smell, deep smoky char and just enough heat that the plate was empty in 15 minutes, and the self-serve bar let us refill wrap vegetables and side dishes freely. For a filling lunch of spicy, smoky grilled pork, Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a solid pick.

Where is Baekhyang Jipbulgui? Parking and break time
Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a pork straw-fire BBQ spot at 1F, 16 Jungdae-ro 25-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, 152m from Ogeum Station Exit 7. It's open Monday to Friday 11:30–21:40, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:30, last order at 21:00, and closed every Sunday.
Today I visited a pork straw-fire BBQ spot near Ogeum Station that's packed with smoky flavor — 'Baekhyang Jipbulgui.'

There's parking in front of the restaurant, but the space is small — only about 3 cars fit — so if you visit during busy hours you'll need to use a paid lot nearby. (Paid parking is available at Dongin Truville officetel near the restaurant.)

Break time runs from 3pm to 5:30pm, so time your visit accordingly ☺️ (Closed every Sunday!)

Inside Baekhyang Jipbulgui: open kitchen and dining room
Inside, Baekhyang Jipbulgui has high ceilings and a generally clean interior. The tables are spaced fairly wide apart, so I could enjoy the meal without feeling cramped.

It's an open kitchen you can see through glass, which felt reassuringly hygienic, and I liked being able to watch the meat being grilled over straw fire. The ventilation was also well done, so the space stayed comfortable and never felt stuffy.

Ordering at the table with the mobile menu
Every table had a table-order tablet installed, which made ordering easy.

Scanning the QR code on the table-order tablet with your phone pulls up a mobile menu too.

When you go with a group, choosing the menu usually takes forever, so having a separate mobile menu everyone can browse was really nice.

Side dishes and free wrap vegetable refills at the self-serve bar
Once you've ordered, Baekhyang Jipbulgui brings out basic side dishes, lettuce wraps, and seaweed soup, and you can refill both side dishes and wraps yourself at the self-serve bar. It was set up so you could grab more without feeling awkward about it.

There's a separate self-serve bar, so you can refill side dishes and wraps without feeling self-conscious.

So many different kinds of leafy greens, all obviously fresh at a glance...✨️ There was also seasoned seaweed flakes on the side, which looked great for making bibimbap too.

A sip of the hot soup first calms a hungry stomach.

When you're at a restaurant, you've got to try every side dish at least once ✨️ The seasoning overall wasn't too strong, which made them even better with rice.
Why we chose gochujang pork straw-fire BBQ over the soy sauce version
What I ordered that day at Baekhyang Jipbulgui was the gochujang pork straw-fire BBQ. It was just spicy enough that I never got tired of it and kept reaching for more.

The gochujang pork straw-fire BBQ finally arrived!! Looking at reviews, a lot of people order the soy sauce version, so I went back and forth on soy sauce versus gochujang — but it turned out to be just spicy enough that I never got tired of it and kept eating more, which I loved. (It tasted even better since I'd had a greasy breakfast... haha)

The moment I took a bite, there was zero gamey smell and tons of smoky flavor — so good. The meat was thinly cut so it wasn't dry at all, staying tender, and the slightly charred surface gave it real smoky depth.

Not just the meat — the onions, garlic, and other vegetables cooked alongside it were also full of that smoky flavor 🔥

I piled meat generously onto a piece of napa cabbage and took a big bite.

With so many different wraps to alternate between, the meat disappeared fast. I think I polished off the whole plate in about 15 minutes after it arrived 😋

Barley-rice ssamjang and baby napa cabbage wraps
Baekhyang Jipbulgui's ssamjang (dipping sauce) is unusual in that it has barley rice mixed in. Thanks to the barley rice, it wasn't overly salty and had a nice texture, so it was tasty even just spread on cabbage by itself 😋

The other wrap greens were fresh and tasty too, but that day the napa cabbage in particular was sweet and crunchy, so I kept reaching for it. I refilled it several times 😆
Is Baekhyang Jipbulgui worth it for lunch near Ogeum Station?
The straw-fire BBQ with no gamey smell and tons of smoky flavor was so exactly my style that I want to come back next time for the soy sauce version 😆 A great pick for a hearty family meal out — this was 'Baekhyang Jipbulgui,' a recommended restaurant near Ogeum Station / in Ogeum-dong!
