Bangi-dong gamjatang restaurant, soju lunch for three: Boseung Hoegwan
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour Korean gukbap and gamjatang restaurant near the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, a short walk from Jamsil Station. On a weekend lunch, the small gamjatang (pork bone and potato stew, sized for 2–3 people) came with enough glass noodles, potatoes, rice cakes, dried radish greens and perilla leaves to feed three without any extra add-ons, served alongside soju. The bone meat at Boseung Hoegwan pulled away effortlessly after a long simmer, making it a satisfying dish for day drinking.

Lunchtime day-drinking in Jamsil's Bangi-dong: Boseung's gamjatang + soju.
Gamjatang and soju in the Bangi-dong food alley
Today I'm bringing you a review of a gamjatang (pork bone and potato stew) restaurant near Jamsil — Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, located around the Bangi-dong food alley. I tried gamjatang, one of my favorite foods.

On this street lined with hot spots in Jamsil's Bangi-dong food alley, I proudly turned into a full-on gukbap (soup with rice) addict. Hot soup and a shot of soju, year-round — that's an unbeatable combo, right?

What is Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch like inside?
Boseung Hoegwan has several branches, and what I like is that the space is spacious and clean. I really hate a cramped, noisy bar where everyone's crammed together...

And the most important part — the food and drinking snacks. All the gamjatang is delicious. After trying several menu items on this Jamsil Bangi-dong day-drinking lunch trip, I can say the gukbap, gamjatang, boiled pork, and hoe-naengmyeon (cold noodles with raw fish) are all good haha.

I used to go to the Boseung Hoegwan branch near City Hall Station a lot back when I was at my old company. For office workers' lunch, nothing beats a hearty, cost-effective bowl of gukbap!!

You know how office lunch appointments always creep toward 4pm hunger? When lunch was gukbap, I wasn't hungry again until dinner haha.

Is the small gamjatang enough for three people?
This time I went for day-drinking at lunch. If you're looking for a good spot to drink during the day near Jamsil Station's Bangi-dong, I recommend Boseung Hoegwan. Since it's open 24 hours, you can go anytime and get thoroughly tipsy without a worry — a real find near Jamsil Station. The small gamjatang arrived. It's sized for 2–3 people, so the portion is generous.

The glass noodles I love so much were piled up like a mountain, and potatoes and rice cakes came included as standard. Even without ordering extra noodles, three people can eat plenty. Fry some rice in there afterward and it's basically game over...

Those glass noodles, so high in carbs and so fattening, there's really a lot of them. Which means it's definitely going to be delicious.
Boseung Hoegwan's gamjatang, a solid day-drinking spot in Bangi-dong Jamsil — even the dried radish greens, which I usually skip the moment I get into the actual stew, are generously included. Plenty of perilla leaves too, which I love. Hot gamjatang really needs a heap of ground perilla powder and a heap of perilla leaves!! Two people eating it will feel stuffed, and three people finishing it off with fried rice too will also end up stuffed! Anyway, the point is: it's a lot of food.

How does the gamjatang at Boseung Hoegwan taste?
The sight of Boseung's gamjatang bubbling away — doesn't it make you crave a cold shot of soju right away?
The portion is generous. This is the basic small gamjatang with no extra noodles added, and it's still a lot. And it's genuinely delicious. If you've only ever had the gukbap at Boseung Hoegwan, I recommend trying the gamjatang once. I tried it and recommended it to people around me, and everyone who came along said it was delicious haha. They'd all had the gukbap before but say 'wait, they sell gamjatang too?!' and then once they try it, they always say it's good!!
There's really a lot of meat still on the bones, and the pork bone meat comes off smoothly without any effort. The broth doesn't feel too sharp or spicy, more soft somehow? I know 'soft gamjatang' sounds odd, but the broth is rich yet not overly sharp, if that makes sense? Anyway, it's exactly my style.
Even eating it again after a while, Boseung Hoegwan is still a great gamjatang spot. It was delicious gamjatang.
You know how eating gamjatang usually leaves your hand cramped from picking meat off the bones by the end, haha. Boseung Hoegwan's gamjatang in Bangi-dong Jamsil, a great day-drinking spot, is simmered so thoroughly soft that the bone meat comes off effortlessly, sliding right off, and the soju goes down just as smoothly. A hearty, delicious drinking snack.

The oldest 'big sister' of our group treated us to dessert afterward. That's my report from a very satisfying weekend lunchtime day-drinking trip to Boseung Hoegwan's gamjatang near Jamsil Station in Bangi-dong. If you haven't tried Boseung's gamjatang, I highly recommend it. It's good enough to rival even fairly well-known gamjatang specialty restaurants!
