Jamsil sundae gukbap restaurant with somaek day-drinking: Boseung
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour sundae gukbap (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant near the east side of Seokchon Lake, an 8-minute walk from Exit 10 of Jamsil Station on Line 8 in Songpa, Seoul. The night before a trip to Mongolia, the writer met a friend here, ordered two bowls of soup with one swapped for a set meal, and added a bottle of somaek (soju mixed with beer) each — the broth was deep, and the set with sundae, head meat and sliced boiled pork made the best drinking snack. Whether it is day-drinking or a hangover cure, Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch works at any hour, dawn and early morning included.

Ahead of a trip to Mongolia, I had a day to spend in Seoul before heading to Incheon Airport, so I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and had sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) with a shot of soju. The broth was so deep and rich, I really enjoyed it.
Near Jamsil, where the Songpa District Office and plenty of companies are located, this is a great spot for office workers on lunch or after work — and since it's open 24 hours, you can drop by late at night, at dawn, or in the morning too. Let me introduce Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch.
Where is Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, and how do you get there from Jamsil Station?
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (soup with rice) restaurant located at 101 Ogeum-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul (65-3 Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul), South Korea, near the east lake of Seokchon Lake.

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, located near the east lake of Seokchon Lake

It's listed as 8 minutes from Jamsil Station Line 8 Exit 10. If you walk fast, you could probably make it in 5 minutes... if you're coming from Line 2, you'll need to walk a bit more, haha.

There's a sign reading 'hangover specialist,' with all kinds of hangover-cure menus like haejang ramyeon, jiok gukbap ('hell soup'), and ppyeo haejangguk (bone hangover soup). But honestly, all of these also work great as drinking snacks. So it seems like the kind of place that's good both for drinking and for curing a hangover.

I gave the menu a quick look before heading in.
Is there parking at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch?
There is a parking space in front of Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, but it's not very large, so it's best to call ahead and check before visiting. You may need to use a paid parking lot nearby. Since it's very accessible by public transit, I'd recommend coming by subway or on foot.

Partitioned booths, group tables and the mood inside
The interior of Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is set up with booth-style partitions, so you can eat without worrying about the people next to you. This gukbap restaurant would also make a nice stop on a date course after a walk around Seokchon Lake.

There are also tables set up for groups of 4 or more.

How to eat sundae gukbap step by step
- The sundae gukbap comes pre-seasoned with perilla seeds and sauce
- Add salted shrimp (saeujeot) and chives to taste for extra flavor
- Ask for garlic and onion if you need them

Two bowls of sundae gukbap, one swapped for a set meal, with somaek in the afternoon
At Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, we ordered 2 bowls of soup and upgraded just one to the set meal. It comes out boiling hot, so watch out for burns.

We also each ordered a bottle for somaek (soju-beer mix) — since it was a day off, we went for some daytime drinking.

The set menu with sundae, head meat and sliced boiled pork was the highlight — it's a great drinking snack too, so I highly recommend it!
