Songpa Korean BBQ with kkakdugi fried rice: Jinseong
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, serving hanwoo beef intestines and kkakdugi fried rice. After a 15-minute Friday-night wait, I had staff-grilled gopchang, house-made kimchi, and garlic-packed fried rice. Verdict: a satisfying place to revisit when I want a full gopchang meal.

I visited without a reservation around 7:30 p.m. on a Friday. The waiting seats outside were completely full, so I waited about 15 minutes before getting in.

Just add your name to the waiting list at the entrance and wait.
Ordering hanwoo gopchang and kkakdugi yangbap
Once seated, I ordered three portions of their signature hanwoo gopchang (Korean beef small intestine) and kkakdugi yangbap (cubed-radish-kimchi tripe fried rice). The hanwoo gopchang was ₩19,000 for 220g, and the kkakdugi yangbap was ₩9,000.

There was an information notice at every table~

The table was set neatly. Cleanliness is everything at a gopchang restaurant, and I loved that Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang’s tableware and tables were so clean!

House-made kimchi and side dishes
Another cheat code at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang that never lets the meal become too rich is its house-made kimchi! Green-onion kimchi, gat kimchi (mustard-leaf kimchi), and young radish kimchi come together; they are delicious on their own, but grilling them alongside the gopchang makes a truly perfect pairing. These kimchi dishes come with unlimited refills, so you can feel the generosity too.

The garlic-loaded dipping sauce that comes as a basic sauce was seriously delicious. It went so well with the gopchang that I spent quite a while trying to work out what it was made from..

Chives also come with it, and they were so good alongside the gopchang.

The soft, fluffy steamed egg is a complimentary side dish~

Savory hanwoo gopchang grilled by the staff
The par-grilled gopchang was ready quickly. This place gets many comments about the exceptional freshness of its ingredients, and seeing what arrived at the table really did make my mouth water.

Seasoned potatoes, rice cakes, and bean sprouts come with it too—and they look fresh even in the photos, right?

The moment I saw the fresh hanwoo gopchang, sourced that day, go onto the grill, I could not help but be impressed.

There was such a generous amount of gopchang that two of us, one man and one woman, ate gopchang to our hearts’ content! The staff trim and grill it themselves to just the right doneness, so you can relax and enjoy it at its most delicious moment.

It was not chewy at all; the savory fat bursting out as I chewed was so appealing. Crisp on the outside and packed with filling inside, it spread a deep flavor all through my mouth!

It went so well with the bean sprouts and chives that I kept reaching for more. I really love gopchang.. and Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is really delicious..

Dip it in the special sauce made with the owner’s know-how, and the umami doubles.

Finishing with kkakdugi yangbap
The finale of a griddle meal is fried rice, of course, right? If you visit, you absolutely have to order the kkakdugi yangbap even if you are full! Other tables seemed to order lots of anchovy noodle soup too, but fried rice is still my number-one pick.

There was a ton of garlic in the kimchi fried rice too! No Korean person could possibly dislike this.

Put a piece of gopchang on top of the fried rice and scrape up every last bite—it makes the perfect finish!!
Overall visit review
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang was perfect from start to finish: high-quality hanwoo gopchang at a reasonable price, filling enough to satisfy, plus palate-whetting kimchi and fried rice! It was so good that I am planning to revisit~ There is a reason it is so busy.
