Iberico pork BBQ in Gwangalli, Busan: Saturday 8pm at Jukrim Sutbul
In short
Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Gwangalli Beach in Busan that grills domestic Korean pork and Iberico specialty cuts over white charcoal made from Jirisan oak. Walking in at 8pm on a Saturday with no wait, the writer ordered the Jukrim Iberico set (pluma, cheek meat, intercostal cut) grilled tableside by staff, finishing with soybean paste rice with beef brisket bits and kimchi noodle soup. The staff time each cut perfectly, so all you have to do is sit, talk, and eat.

If you're craving meat in Gwangalli and want something a bit more special than usual pork, this is the place I'd recommend! I visited Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui (죽림숯불돼지구이), which specializes in domestic Korean pork and Iberico, grilling aged cuts over white charcoal 🥩

Where in Gwangalli is it?
Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui sits at the intersection you reach by walking up from the Olive Young near Gwangalli Beach. The sign has a cute pig's backside on it 🐷

What was the Saturday 8pm wait like?
I visited on a Saturday at 8pm and got in right away with no wait. But by the time I finished eating, a line was starting to form. You can join a waitlist in advance through Catch Table, so keep that in mind if you're planning an evening visit ✨
Inside, the restaurant was quite spacious. Tables for four were spread out generously in one large room, and the soft lighting overall gave it a calm, upscale feel.

I sat at a sofa table toward the back, with a view of the kitchen right in front. If you want a calmer meal, I'd recommend one of the inner seats too!

What kind of meat does this place serve?
Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui specializes in domestic Korean pork and Iberico. The menu ranges from familiar cuts like aged fresh pork belly and pork shoulder to Iberico specialty cuts like pluma, cheek meat, and intercostal cut. I heard that Jukrim pays a lot of attention not just to sourcing the meat itself but also to the aging process.

Side dishes and accompaniments
A wide variety of basic side dishes and sauces came out — house-made green onion sauce, fermented anchovy sauce, fermented scallop, wasabi, yuzu aged white kimchi, seasoned green onions and pickles. There were so many accompaniments that I never got bored eating. (And the barley tea is 사랑이에오 — a sweetheart.)

Jirisan oak white charcoal
And the charcoal 🔥 which Jukrim emphasizes as much as the meat itself. Domestic white charcoal made by refining Jirisan oak at high temperature burns without odor while giving the meat a subtle oak fragrance. I heard the outside cooks quickly while the inside stays juicy, creating that ideal crispy-outside, tender-inside texture.

The Jukrim Iberico set — grilled tableside by staff
I ordered the Jukrim Iberico set. I chose it because I wanted to try a variety of Iberico specialty cuts, which aren't easy to find elsewhere, all at once!
Jukrim Iberico set
A staff member grills everything from start to finish, timing it just right so it's ready at the tastiest moment — you just sit and wait 👏

They adjust the doneness for each cut, placing the finished pieces right in front of you to eat immediately, and also tell you which accompaniments go best with each one, making the meal even more enjoyable.
Pluma, grilled medium-rare
The pluma was grilled medium-rare — incredibly tender yet still had a satisfying bite. It's on the milder side, so try the first piece dipped lightly in Maldon salt to taste the meat's natural flavor 🧂

The chewy bounce of the cheek meat
From the first bite, the cheek meat (악어살) had a springy, chewy bounce. I ate it wrapped with various accompaniments as instructed, and had fun trying different combinations.

Beef brisket soybean paste rice
The beef brisket soybean paste rice (차돌된장술밥) was much better than I expected. It was packed with brisket, giving off a subtle beefy aroma that blended naturally with the nutty scent of the soybean paste.

It was also loaded with vegetables — zucchini, tofu, and mushrooms — so after all that meat, it left me feeling satisfyingly full 🍲
Kimchi noodle soup

Kimchi noodle soup (김치말이국수) is another must when eating BBQ! The tangy, cool broth washed away the greasy taste lingering in my mouth and revived my appetite.

The soft noodles combined with the crunchy texture of the kimchi made it a great pairing alongside the meat too.
Wrap-up
If you want good meat in Gwangalli or a BBQ place where someone grills it for you, I'd recommend Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui! Since staff handle the grilling, you can just sit back, chat, and enjoy — and the care put into the meat quality, charcoal, and aging process really came through ✨
