Seongsu weekend date café away from crowds: sand cookie at T Coffee

My husband and I did a 1-night, 2-day trip to Seoul. We had a Seongsu date, but there were so many people that we wandered around looking for a café to escape into for a bit — and that's how we found T Coffee! Let me introduce this quiet, atmospheric café.

How to find T Coffee near Seongsu Station Exit 2

To get to T Coffee in Seongsu, you need to come out of Exit 2 of Seongsu Station. It's a bit off from the busy main strip, which makes it exactly the kind of quiet café we were looking for.

T Coffee is on the basement level. So if you keep walking straight out from Exit 2 of Seongsu Station and spot a Pizza Slice shop, you're in the right place! Once you see it, just take the stairs down to B1.

T Coffee is right next to Pizza Slice. So when you go down to the basement and open the door, you'll first see the Pizza Slice shop — but keep walking and you'll see T Coffee like in the photo, so just open the door and go in.

T Coffee menu and prices: iced americano 5,500 won

The menu is split into coffee and non-coffee. Since it's a café in Seongsu-dong, I expected the prices to be steep, but the iced americano was 5,500 won, cheaper than I thought. These days, at any hot-place café in Seongsu, even a basic iced americano is 8,000 won and up, so T Coffee's reasonable prices were a plus.

The dessert selection isn't huge, but it's simple. Still, everything looked delicious, so it was hard to choose.

Inside T Coffee and seating on a Saturday afternoon

The shop isn't huge, but it has a variety of table layouts, and one whole wall is floor-to-ceiling glass, so it never felt cramped at all. We visited around 4:40pm on a Saturday and it wasn't full — there were plenty of seats. There were also quite a few people sitting alone working on laptops, and even with a decent number of customers, T Coffee in Seongsu was quiet.

We sat and waited at a window seat, and across from us we could watch the coffee being brewed.

How the decaf americano and vanilla cold brew latte taste

Once you sit down and wait, they bring the drinks and dessert to your table. There were green plants by the window that made for really pretty photos too.

I ordered the iced americano (decaf), and out of all the decaf drinks I've had, this one had the strongest acidity. Even with decaf, I prefer some acidity rather than a flat taste — that's what makes it feel like a real americano to me. It was meant to be sipped slowly, but it was so good I drank it down quickly.

And my husband's vanilla cold brew latte — stir it well before drinking! The cold brew's distinctive aroma and bitterness balanced nicely with the vanilla's sweetness and fragrance. It was also less sweet than I expected, which was even better.

And then the sand cookie! Looking at it, I thought the outside would be hard, but one bite in, it was surprisingly soft. I told my husband how soft it was, took a bite, then drank the americano — with the cool café, the green plants by the window, the acidity-packed americano, and finally the sand cookie, it was basically heaven!

Who is T Coffee in Seongsu best for?

I'd barely been to Seoul and this was my first time hanging out in Seongsu, so this was my first Seongsu café — and finding one with a good vibe and quiet atmosphere made the trip feel like a success. Seongsu is a crowded area, but being able to enjoy quiet coffee right in the middle of it made it even better.
