In short

Dento is a quiet brunch café on Bongsan-munhwa 2-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, a short walk from Banwoldang Station and the Dongseongno area. The order was a triple cheese sandwich with tomato soup, a five-piece bite-size open sandwich set and Crimson Punch hibiscus blend tea, and the tomato soup made the strongest impression. With soft music and easy conversation, Dento works well as a date stop near Dongseongno.

On days when you want to set your busy routine aside and just breathe for a while, where do you go? Today I'm introducing a cozy space in the middle of the busy downtown — one that also makes a perfect Dongseongno date spot full of atmosphere.

It's already a well-known Banwoldang brunch spot, a quiet sandwich place near Banwoldang Station where the toasty smell pulls you in off the street. The signature menu here is the colorful bite-size open sandwiches, which are as fun to look at as they are to eat.

If you've been looking for a quiet Bongsan-dong brunch spot with calm music instead of loud noise, pay attention to today's post. Let me take you straight to this special place, perfect for making memories with someone you love!

Where is Dento, and what are its hours and parking?

Dento is on the first floor at 42-5 Bongsan-munhwa 2-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu — in an alley in Bongsan-dong close to Banwoldang Station. It's open Tue–Sun 10:00–20:00, last order at 19:00, and closed every Monday.

For parking, you can use the alley or a nearby public parking lot.

What does the inside of Dento feel like?

Dento's interior is clean, comfortable, and quiet, with calm music playing. They also serve beer in the evening, so it has a bit of a bar-like feel then.

Dento, the Banwoldang brunch spot, was easy to spot right away.

They sell beer too, so in the evening it seems like you can enjoy it with a bit of a bar atmosphere.

Today's coffee was Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Abaya washed — seems like the coffee changes little by little, the acidity and sweetness feel a bit different each time!

Self-service table with tissues, cups, and side plates

Tissues, wet wipes, cups, and side plates were all laid out on the table.

It was displayed so you could just grab it yourself — convenient and nice.

In one corner there's a speaker playing music — the calm music was really nice.

You just grab the knife, fork, and spoon yourself too.

There were various types of tables set up. The inside is clean and comfortable.

When I went, there was a mix of people — couples, and a woman who came alone! The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and quiet, so I highly recommend it as a Dongseongno date course. It's a spot women will especially love — boyfriends, take note. I'd also recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet sandwich place near Banwoldang Station.

What we ordered at Dento

At Dento we ordered the triple cheese sandwich & tomato soup, the five-piece bite-size open sandwich sampler, and the Crimson Punch hibiscus blend tea.

Dento's brunch and drinks menu

Triple cheese sandwich & tomato soup / five-piece bite-size open sandwich sampler / Crimson Punch hibiscus blend tea — that's what we ordered.

Crimson Punch hibiscus blend tea at Dento

A cup of Crimson Punch hibiscus blend tea

From the blend teas I got the Crimson Punch hibiscus tea, haha. I feel like I've been drinking hibiscus tea a lot lately — it's tangy, but drinking it warm feels calming and puts me in a good mood.

Hibiscus teacup set on a cloth coaster

The cloth coaster under the teacup was pretty and gave it a nice atmosphere — loved everything about it.

Bite-size open sandwiches arranged neatly on a plate

It's a brunch café, but since we hadn't eaten lunch yet we ordered just two menu items. The bite-size open sandwiches came out on a neat plate.

A brunch spread for two set out on the table at Dento

Since we planned to eat it as lunch, this amount was plenty, haha. If you want a light sandwich meal, I think it's great for enjoying a quiet Bongsan-dong brunch. Coming here as a Dongseongno date course and sharing a couple of menu items together would also be lovely.

Table set with self-served water cup and cutlery

Water cups, side plates, knives, forks, and spoons are set out on a table in the center of the café for you to grab yourself. I found this convenient.

Triple cheese sandwich and tomato soup

Triple cheese sandwich served with tomato soup

Triple cheese sandwich & tomato soup — the tomato soup tasted like it had been made with lightly sautéed meat, and its savory depth and richness were on another level. Compared to the sandwiches and other menu items I had today, this was the tastiest and most impressive dish at Dento, the Banwoldang brunch spot!

Dento's rich, flavorful tomato soup

I often make tomato soup at home myself, simmering fresh tomatoes!

Even drizzling olive oil on my homemade version, it can't compete with Dento's tomato soup in quiet Bongsan-dong! The difference in richness was huge — you really should order it separately even if it's not on your original plan, haha. Highly recommend. One taste and I thought, this is genuinely delicious!

Cross-section of the crisply toasted triple cheese sandwich

I love toast-style dishes, and since this bread was toasted first and then made into a sandwich, the bread part had a great crisp texture. I don't like soggy bread, and even with fillings inside, it didn't go soggy.

How do Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches taste?

Pan con tomate open sandwich

The pan con tomate was light and refreshing, perfect as the first bite, and tangy with that distinct tomato flavor.

Avocado and salmon open sandwich
Close-up of a salmon-topped bite-size open sandwich

Avocado and salmon — a combination that can't taste bad. It brought together all my favorite ingredients; salmon can sometimes taste a bit fishy on its own, but paired with avocado it felt soft, moist, and nutty.

Romesco roasted vegetable open sandwich
Shrimp rémoulade open sandwich

The romesco roasted vegetables looked like grilled mushrooms and broccoli piled on top — the look was striking and it tasted great too! The shrimp rémoulade paired plump shrimp with celery, with the shrimp's natural savoriness balanced by a tangy sauce!

Truffle ricotta open sandwich
Bite-size sandwich topped with truffle-scented ricotta cheese

The truffle ricotta combines truffle aroma with ricotta cheese — soft and moist in the mouth, with a really lovely balance of flavors!

Dento's bite-size open sandwiches use a variety of different ingredients across each piece, so it was fun both visually and in taste.

Since the open sandwiches are bite-sized, they're not enough to fill you up as a full meal, but they're great for a light bite alongside an Americano! These five open sandwiches would make for a fun, different experience for anyone looking for a quiet Bongsan-dong brunch.
