Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch is in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, just a short drive from the Osiria Tourist Complex and Songjeong Beach. It is in just the right spot to stop for lunch while on a Gijang drive or an outing to Lotte Outlet or IKEA Gijang.

There is plenty of dedicated parking in front of and beneath the building. Cars can back up during the weekend lunch rush, but turnover is quick and the parking is well managed, so it was easy to visit by car.

What is the wait like at this Gijang Korean restaurant?

It is such a popular place that there can be a wait even outside regular mealtimes. Still, turnover was quite fast. If you are visiting on a weekend or during mealtimes, I recommend joining the remote waitlist ahead of time through the Catch Table app.

A waiting area with cold tea

Even though I visited at that in-between time just after the weekend lunch peak, this was popular enough to have a wait. There is a dedicated waiting area in front of the restaurant, and I loved that cold tea was available there—it made the wait feel cool rather than boring.

The waiting area also has Kkomak Hansang's menu displayed clearly, so you can look over what to order in advance.

A spacious restaurant that was great for bringing parents

Inside was a clean, spacious, comfortable main dining hall. The polished Korean restaurant atmosphere made it feel like a really good place to bring older family members or parents. The tables were roomy, the spaces had a nice degree of separation, and the full-height windows looked out onto green trees.

There was also a separate washbasin area near the entrance for washing your hands properly. It was so thoughtful and hygienic: you can wash up right away before eating or after wrapping ssam (vegetable wraps), without having to go all the way to the restroom.

Along with the standard cockle set meal and cockle bibimbap, set menus that include yukjeon (pan-fried battered beef) are especially popular. There were three of us—my parents and me—so we ordered the beef pancake and cockle bibimbap set for 3 without hesitation.

Every table has a tablet ordering system. You can tap to request more side dishes, aprons, or tableware, and the staff bring them over promptly without you having to call someone over and explain. It was really convenient.

There is also a small event underway: participate in a receipt or SNS review and you can receive cola or savory puffed rice.

Mild 13-dish banchan and generous cockles

As soon as we sat down, the main dishes and 13 neat handmade banchan (Korean side dishes) were set out one after another. The spread really had the feel of a Korean set meal. Every dish was mild, lightly seasoned, and clean-tasting, so my parents happily said it sat comfortably on their stomachs. We could easily request refills through the tablet, too, so we enjoyed everything to the fullest.

The yukjeon arrived freshly cooked, steaming and still warm. The meat was wonderfully tender, and it was perfect topped with a little spicy sweet-and-sour cockle salad.

Usually at cockle restaurants, there is lots of rice but disappointingly few cockles. Here, though, the amount of cockles was incredibly generous! I was completely satisfied to be able to enjoy as many cockles as I wanted.

Miyeokguk (seaweed soup) was served too, making the cockle bibimbap feel like a hearty Korean set meal. The soup was also mild and clean-tasting, which my parents liked.

After our delicious meal, we found a self-serve after-meal coffee machine by the entrance. Making a cup of coffee was such a pleasant way to finish.

Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch in Gijang, Busan, was a wonderful restaurant in every way: thoughtful cold tea in the waiting room, convenient Catch Table waiting, a spacious and comfortable atmosphere, easy tablet ordering, and above all, 13 mild and neatly prepared Korean set-meal side dishes alongside generous cockle dishes. I personally enjoyed it so much, and my parents were 200% satisfied, so I definitely plan to return soon.
