Gwangalli restaurant bisque cream pasta and potato pizza: Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile is an Italian restaurant tucked into a Gwangan-dong alley in Suyeong, Busan, serving pizza on 48-hour cold-fermented dough and pasta with fully handmade sauces. On a weekend lunch visit, the writer followed the staff's recommendation and ordered a hot honey pepperoni and potato half-and-half pizza (₩26,000) with a bisque cream pasta (₩18,000). Between the crispy Dubaek potatoes, the truffle aroma and the chewy dough, Extra Mile's potato pizza is worth ordering if you love truffle.

Extra Mile is an Italian pizza restaurant in Gwangan-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan. I went for weekend lunch to try the half-and-half pizza made with 48-hour aged dough and the bisque cream pasta.
⏰ Hours: Daily 11:00 - 21:00 (closed on Chuseok and Lunar New Year Day) 📍 Location: Gwangan-dong 172-7, Suyeong-gu, Busan

There's a place I visited when I wanted good Italian food in Gwangalli for weekend lunch — Extra Mile, in Gwangan-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan. The pretty exterior, which looked like a converted house, caught my eye first, and once inside the wood-toned interior was really stylish.
Above all, the pizza here was really delicious. I love truffle, and the potato pizza I ordered that day had truffle oil in it, so with every bite a subtle truffle aroma rose up and I loved it. On top of that, the potato topping was different from a typical potato pizza, which made the texture fun too.
Let me introduce Extra Mile, the Gwangalli spot I visited for weekend lunch, in detail — location, atmosphere, menu, and the food I actually ate. Here's the review!
Where is Extra Mile and what are its hours?
Extra Mile is on the 1st floor of 11 Suyeong-ro 554beon-gagil, Suyeong-gu, Busan (Gwangan-dong 172-7). It's set slightly back from the main Gwangalli beach, making it a good stop after enjoying the ocean view in Gwangalli. It's also a solid pick if you're looking for a Gwangalli date restaurant.
Current hours are 11:00-21:00, with last order at 20:00. Weekends can get busy at mealtimes, so if you're worried about waiting, it's worth checking ahead before you visit.

How to find Extra Mile in Gwangan-dong
If you're coming from the Gwangalli area, head from the main beach into the alley behind it. It's not a restaurant right on the beachfront, but being set a bit further back actually made it feel like a calm escape from Gwangalli's busy atmosphere for a relaxed meal.
It's a white house exterior. Follow the arrow and go in. We visited on a weekend at lunchtime and were lucky enough to be seated right away.
Weekend lunch at Extra Mile: how long was the wait?
We visited on a weekend for lunch. Gwangalli gets really crowded these days on weekends, so I was worried about waiting for lunch, but fortunately we got seated right away with no wait. Still, there's a Catchtable waitlist kiosk set up in front of the store in case a line forms.
There was a Catchtable waitlist kiosk set up. If there's no table available when you visit, you can register for the wait using Catchtable in front of the store. Other visitor reviews mention waiting too, so especially during weekend lunch or dinner peak times, it might be worth arriving a bit early! We went around 12:30-1pm.
Extra Mile's exterior: a converted house in the alley
When I arrived at Extra Mile, I loved the exterior right away. Instead of a typical restaurant building, it had the feel of a white house that had been renovated — clean and pretty, the kind of entrance that makes you want to take photos right away.
Gwangalli has so many pretty cafés and restaurants, and Extra Mile is one of them — the exterior and atmosphere really won me over haha. Rather than feeling overly commercial, it had the vibe of being invited to eat at someone's pretty house, so it seemed like a great spot for a date or an anniversary meal.
Wood-toned interior and the open kitchen at Extra Mile
Opening the door, the inside of Extra Mile was centered around a wood-toned interior. It felt warm yet clean overall, and I thought the interior design was really well done. The wood gave off a comfortable feeling, so the space itself felt relaxing even while waiting for food.

You might picture a flashy or hip vibe for an Italian restaurant in Gwangalli, but Extra Mile has a stylish yet not overly formal atmosphere, so it was comfortable to eat here. It seemed great not just for dates but also for lunch with friends or visiting with family.
Another thing that caught my eye inside was the open kitchen. Since the kitchen was open, we could see a bit of the food being made!

Seeing the neatly organized kitchen made me happy personally. Since we'd ordered pizza and pasta, it was fun to peek at the process of the food being prepared.
Coloring mats while you wait at Extra Mile
And here's a really fun point about this place! When we sat down, there was a paper cup on the table. What's this, I thought, and inside were crayons haha. And looking at the table, there were also two coloring pages laid out.

Turns out these were set out so you could color while waiting for the food. It was such an unexpected touch that it was fun haha. It keeps the wait from feeling boring, and you can color together with a friend or partner, which I thought was a nice idea. It'd be a fun point for families visiting with kids too.

We were coloring when the food arrived, so we hurriedly cleared it away haha.

What we ordered at Extra Mile: half-and-half pizza and bisque cream pasta

We ordered a half-and-half pizza (hot honey pepperoni + potato), bisque cream pasta, and a zero coke.

At first we were only going to order the hot honey pepperoni pizza, but the staff member let us know half-and-half was possible and recommended the potato pizza too. They said the potato pizza is one of the popular menu items, so we decided to try both flavors at once. In the end, I was really glad we went with half-and-half.

When we ordered the coke, they also gave us two glasses with ice and lemon slices in them!👍🏻
Extra Mile's potato pizza: for truffle lovers
The pizza finally arrived, and the first thing that caught my eye was the potato pizza. It looked a bit different from a typical potato pizza!

There were both round-sliced potatoes and long, thin-sliced potatoes on top 😊 The long ones especially were as crispy as potato chips haha. They crunched with every bite, which made eating it fun. Even within one potato you could taste both a soft texture and a crispy one, which was definitely different from a regular potato pizza.
🖤 And the reason I really loved the potato pizza — the truffle oil. I already love the smell of truffle, and the subtle truffle aroma rising off this pizza was so good. The mild, savory taste of the potato combined with the distinct truffle scent, plus the salty bacon flavor, made for a combination that really worked haha.
Especially with the crispy potato topping and the chewy pizza dough together in each bite, the texture was really fun. If you love truffle, definitely try the potato pizza haha.
Hot honey pepperoni pizza: sweet and salty in one slice
The other half was the hot honey pepperoni pizza.

This pizza has pepperoni with mascarpone cheese, ricotta cheese, and pickled chili, topped with hot honey sauce. The salty, spicy pepperoni combined with the sweet hot honey had a really addictive sweet-and-salty appeal 🫶

The mascarpone and ricotta cheese also brought a soft, savory cheese flavor. The pickled chili scattered throughout gave a little spicy kick whenever things got rich. If we'd only had one pizza, we wouldn't have been able to compare this flavor to the potato pizza's charm, so ordering half-and-half meant we got to enjoy both styles at once 🫶
Why Extra Mile's 48-hour dough tastes so good
At Extra Mile, the toppings are delicious, but the dough itself was really good too. The bread itself was chewy, with a crispy outside and a tender, chewy inside!
So I looked it up, and apparently Extra Mile's pizza uses a crust that takes 48 hours to complete. They stick to premium Italian Caputo flour and the traditional Biga pre-fermentation method haha. The dough is slowly cold-fermented for 48 hours, resulting in a dough that's crispy outside, chewy inside, and gets more savory the more you chew.
With pizzas where only the toppings are good, you sometimes end up leaving some of the crust behind. But here, even the dough is delicious, so I have to give it credit as a real pizza place 🩷
Bisque cream pasta with the sea aroma of gamtae (seaweed)
The pasta we ordered alongside the pizza was the bisque cream pasta.

According to the menu description, it includes shrimp, Reggiano cheese, gamtae (roasted seaweed), and parsley. There was roasted gamtae on top of the pasta.

The staff member told us before eating not to mix in the gamtae, just to eat it as is. So at first I left the gamtae on top and ate it together with the pasta.

Ate the shrimp too haha. The rich seafood flavor of the red shrimp bisque sauce combined with the savoriness of the Reggiano cheese, and the gamtae added a subtle ocean scent, making it clearly different from a typical cream pasta. Apparently the pasta sauce isn't a store-bought product but is 100% handmade from scratch. Maybe that's why the sauce itself had such a rich flavor, and it went really well when eaten together with the pizza haha.
Points to check at Extra Mile
Extra Mile's pasta sauces are 100% handmade
Extra Mile apparently makes all its pasta sauces 100% handmade, with no store-bought products. With the pizza dough aged for 48 hours and the pasta sauce made in-house too, it felt like a place that puts a lot of hands-on effort into every dish.
Looking at the menu lineup, beyond simple cream pasta or tomato pasta, there are also more unusual options like peanut butter pasta, white ragu, and bisque cream, so next time I'd like to try the other pastas too.
Is Extra Mile good for birthdays and anniversaries in Gwangalli?
Extra Mile also offers birthday and anniversary perks, making it a good spot for dates or group meals. The atmosphere isn't overly formal, but the interior is pretty and the food is presented nicely, so it seems like a solid choice for a meal on a special day. It's especially good as a stop after a date in Gwangalli, for pizza and pasta.
Group use is available and corkage is free, so it's worth keeping in mind for gatherings or special occasions. There's also a vegan menu, which is a plus for widening menu choices.
