I was running errands nearby and got a sushi craving, so I stopped by this Lotte Department Store Gwangbok favorite, Moshi Moshi Sushi!! It's on the 10th floor of the main building, on the side close to the culture center, so there are lots of families with kids here.
The entrance, the menu board and the weekday evening mood
Right at the entrance there's a big photo menu board, so easy to look at! I love this haha. Sushi, udon, soba, pork cutlet, salad, tempura, char siu — all kinds of options, a great Nampo Japanese restaurant spot. We came a bit early on a weekday evening so it was quiet, but by the middle of our meal more customers had come in, and by the time we left it was pretty full — I also noticed a CatchTable sign at the entrance.
Seating with children and baby chairs at Moshi Moshi Sushi
The dining room has rows of spacious tables~~ and on one side there's bar seating where you can watch the chef work up close, haha. Since a lot of families come here with kids, they have plenty of baby chairs ready. Our kids are big enough now that we just sat at a regular table.
You order via tablet at each table, and if you leave a Naver receipt review you get a free shrimp sushi~~! Gotta grab these little perks, hehe.
Moshi Moshi Sushi has an incredibly wide range, from individual sushi pieces to platters to sets. Nampo has tons of Japanese restaurants, and this one has so many menu items I couldn't photograph them all, so I just picked a reasonable selection... sorry about that. Everyone ordered a few different things to suit their own taste, haha.
If you like eating a variety of things generously, the platter menus are clearly the way to go. No need to agonize over choices, and the combo is well put together. If you just want to focus on what you're craving, go for individual items!!
What comes in the 21,900-won sushi platter?
The sushi platter!! Salad, silken tofu salad, assorted tempura, mini udon, 7 pieces of sushi, and even gimbap (seaweed rice roll) — very filling.
Usually the sushi that comes with set menus is... honestly kind of low quality, often padded out with basics like fried tofu sushi just to hit a piece count, but Moshi Moshi at Gwangbok totally changed my mind lol. Fish sushi, salmon, raw shrimp... it's good stuff.
Even the plain 10,000-won udon comes with salad
Udon lovers, go for the udon~~~ lol. Even ordered as a single item, it comes with a salad too. Wow, I really love this kind of setup!
Two kids' sets, and how the children liked them
Since there are two kinds of kids' menus, the good thing is each kid can pick what they like. The one who loves pork cutlet went with the cutlet and mini udon — the katsu was thick and crispy, really tasty.
The udon must have been delicious because the kids really dug in lol. The mini udon apparently wasn't enough because they asked me to order more...
My son who loves sushi went with the sushi + mini udon kids' set, which also came with a croquette haha. But the kid who likes flounder sushi said this sushi wasn't quite to their taste... lol.
On top of that, everyone ordered extra items to suit their own taste. You can eat generously with the sets, focus on exactly what you want, and if you're still hungry you can add individual sushi pieces too — Moshi Moshi really lets you pick and choose to your own preference.
How the sushi rice and toppings tasted
The rice portion was just right, so it wasn't heavy, and the toppings were fresh and a good size, haha. I'd eaten lunch too late so I couldn't eat properly, which was a bit of a shame... next time I want to try the 2-3 person set or the char siu too.
Is Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok worth it for a family dinner?
If you're craving sushi at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, head up to the 10th floor~~ lol. Plenty of parking time, tasty food, all good! Moshi Moshi was great for a date or for family dinners alike.
