On my way to check out buzzy Nampo-dong these days, I stopped for a good lunch at Moshi Moshi, a sushi restaurant in Lotte Department Store Gwangbok that's already known as one of the go-to spots in Nampo.

Moshi Moshi at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is on the 10th floor inside the department store, so it's easy to reach by public transit, but the best part is you don't have to worry about parking either.

Moshi Moshi is a Busan sushi chain that's been running directly-operated branches for 15 years at its Busan National University location, 7 years at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, and 3 years at Lotte Department Store Dongnae — so if there's a branch near you, it's definitely worth a visit!

The interior at Moshi Moshi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is clean and comfortable with plenty of seats, and being lunchtime, it was pretty packed. I didn't get it in a photo, but there's also bar seating, which looks like a good spot to eat solo!

You can get high-end-feeling sushi here without the high-end price, so it works well as a date spot too, and since they have baby chairs ready, it's also good for family meals. I'd made a reservation ahead of time and they had the table already set up. Ordering is done through a tablet at the table!

What comes in two-person set no. 3, shared by three people

Moshi Moshi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok has everything from set menus to à la carte dishes, so it seems like a good place to drop by even just for a light drink, not necessarily a full meal.

There were three of us, and since we wanted to try a bit of everything, we ordered the two-person set no. 3 (16-piece sushi, salmon salad, choice of one noodle dish, vegetable salad, tofu salad, and miso soup), picked udon for the noodle, and added a side order of chashu.

The food came out fast at Moshi Moshi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok — I worried it might not be enough, but once it arrived, the portions were actually pretty generous, making it a satisfying, filling meal.

Tofu salad and vegetable salad

We started with the vegetable salad and tofu salad — this tofu salad is genuinely delicious, so you have to try it! The soft tofu paired with a savory sauce makes it a dish that could win over even people who don't usually like tofu!

The 16 pieces of sushi

You might think a set menu means lower quality, but you don't need to worry at all here — the sashimi itself is fresh and thick-cut with zero fishy smell, so even sushi beginners can dig in without hesitation.

The set includes white fish, red fish, salmon, shrimp, beef, eel, egg, beef tartare (yukhoe) sushi, gimbap (seaweed rice roll) sushi, and more, so there's a lot of variety to enjoy — and it turns out the plate is arranged in the order you're supposed to eat it for the best experience! Everything was good, but the beef tartare sushi was so fresh and savory it could pass for something from a specialty restaurant.

Chashu, ordered as a side

The chashu itself wasn't dry at all — it was tender, and eating it with the bean sprouts and onions served alongside made it even better.

Salmon salad

The salmon salad comes with 8 pieces of salmon, salad, cereal bits, and onion toppings, and you're meant to mix it all together.

I wanted to taste the salmon on its own, so I didn't mix it and just topped it with a bit of the salad instead. It was so soft it was basically my sister's ideal dish, since she loves salmon!

Udon, the noodle choice

The udon felt like a solid, no-frills classic. I was coming down with a bit of a cold, so having something hot like this really hit the spot.
