Busanjin curry restaurant for a solo lunch: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese-style curry restaurant in Busanjin, Busan. I had half-and-half curry and Zero Cola alone, then looked around the sunny basement seating and cute Japanese-style decor. Verdict: a satisfying solo lunch, especially for the spicy cream curry that was not rich.

I visited Sarugak20, a great curry spot in Jeonpo, Busan 🍛 Do you know Moru Restaurant? I liked it too and went there often, and apparently this is its second location! Sarugak20 is close to Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station and directly across from the community center! Open 10:00–19:30, closed Mondays.

Across from the community center: a sunny basement space
It was easy to find because it is right across from the community center! It is in the basement, but when you go down, it gets such amazing sunlight that it does not feel like a basement at all ☀️

Watch your head as you head downstairs! I almost bumped mine, by a hair! The kind owner even told me to be careful on the way down ⭐️

Heading downstairs, the vibe was everything 🤎 I went at weekend lunchtime, and there were seriously lots of customers. (Officially a good restaurant.) Maybe because it is up on a hill, but although it is underground, it does not feel underground.

I had seen this seat in photos and, since I was dining alone, really wanted to sit here because it was so pretty. But I wore the wrong outfit and was way too hot, so I gave up this seat 🥹 It gets lots of sunlight—next time, I am definitely sitting here.

I was alone, but the owner said the floor seating was fine too, so I sat here 🫶

There were large tables as well as counter seats that are nice for two people, so there were lots of seating options 🍛

Ordering half-and-half curry and frozen curry
The menu! I had already decided on the half-and-half curry before coming. Since I was eating alone, I picked half-and-half curry and Zero Cola 🌟 You can also order frozen curry to eat at home. It is available through Smart Store, with direct pickup at the restaurant too 🫶 Takeout is available as well!

Looking at the little objects while waiting for curry
After ordering, I looked around inside and wondered whether this was a gift shop or a curry restaurant! I love things like this (girls do, right..). It is a Japanese-style curry restaurant, and the interior made me feel like I was in Japan too 🍀

It was nice for other people to browse too, not just me 👏 I loved having things to look at while waiting for the curry!

It could give a gift shop a run for its money. There were so many cute little items.

And the water was prepared so nicely too! You can pour whichever kind you want. I picked lime water.

The restroom is outside on the first floor, but the owner thoughtfully set up a hand-washing sink inside the restaurant! 👍🏻

Even the hand-washing area had such a lovely vibe! Washing your hands before eating is a must, so this was such a thoughtful touch.

There were lots of cute little objects around my seat too 🫶 I think it would make a nice date spot as well.

Cream and beef half-and-half curry that was not rich
Ta-da! Half-and-half curry with the cutest presentation 🍛

The tomato was such a cute touch, and how do they even shape the rice like that..!!! The rice had a wonderfully sticky, chewy texture too.

It was sprinkled with garlic flakes, and that was the key! The cream curry and beef curry came split half and half. I thought the cream curry might be rich, but it actually had a spicy kick, which I liked even more!! I was worried it would be heavy, but it really was not rich at all..🫶

The presentation was so good that I almost did not want to eat it.

The kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) served alongside it also went so well with the curry, and it was nicely fermented 🍛🍛

It is great for a date or a satisfying meal with friends 🫶 And of course, for dining alone too! You can have delicious curry and browse the little objects, so it was such a proper lunch 🍛 Have some delicious curry in Jeonpo-dong ⭐️
