My mom's been saying her eyes hurt lately, like the reading glasses she's been using just aren't fitting right anymore ㅠ Thinking about it, it's been almost two years since she got that last pair ⭐️

So while trying to figure out which eyewear shop to take her to for new reading glasses, I found Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch. A place that turned out to be clean, trendy, fast, and good value all at once — let me tell you about it in detail.

Where is Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch, and what are its hours and parking?

Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch is on the first floor at 107-3 Haebit 6-ro, Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. Coming into Ilgwang New City, one turn down the alley and the sign was right there. Look for Mogu Mogu snack shop next door — it's right beside that.

First impressions of the Ilgwang eyewear shop, visiting with mom

It had been ages since I'd visited Ilgwang, and it was so hot that day too, haha... After dropping Yeondu off at daycare, my mom and I headed to Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch. Maybe because it's a new town, everything looked so clean and the streets were laid out so neatly that the shop really stood out 🤭

Something I liked before even walking in: the prices were clearly posted. Glasses can feel like something where the price is whatever they decide to charge you, but at Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch the prices were right there in plain sight, which made it feel a lot less stressful.

Reading glasses eye exam and the compressed lens recommendation

As soon as I mentioned mom's reading glasses weren't fitting right, they went straight into an eye exam, haha. They made her feel so comfortable that mom breezed right through the test. The exam room had this high-tech feel too — the equipment all looked brand new!!

Trying on corrective glasses

After the quick eye exam, she tried on the corrective glasses right away. Since the prescription was stronger than what she normally wears, mom said they felt a bit heavy. On top of that, they recommended the right compression level, which felt really reassuring for us who know nothing about lenses.

Inside Barabon Glasses: tea corner, lens display and 1+1 offers

While mom was getting her eyes tested, I wandered around the inside.

Tea and coffee corner inside the shop

There was a little corner set up for enjoying nice tea and coffee 💗 And they even had the contact lenses advertised by actress Go Yoon-jung, who I love so much. Plus 1+1 deals. Honestly, lenses feel so much cheaper now than when I was a student — soft lenses and circle lenses used to be really expensive back then.

Machine for test-fitting lenses

There were lenses in all kinds of designs, but they also had this machine these days where you can test-fit a lens. It looked so fun I had to try it. And then, frame browsing start! Everything was arranged so neatly, from the most budget-friendly line all the way up to the pricier, higher-performance frames. It could've felt chaotic with everything mixed together, but because it was organized so well, it actually made picking easier for us.

Baby glasses and baby sunglasses at Barabon Glasses

There were also plenty of frames worn by celebrities! Honestly, I don't know much about the different eyewear brands, but the staff explained everything so thoroughly! Having such a wide range of brands is another perk of this place.

And since I have a baby, of course my eyes wandered over to the baby glasses too, haha. Of course I'd rather my baby not need glasses yet, but I thought about how cute they'd be as a fashion accessory. Even the name is cute — Tomato Glasses.

They were also selling summer baby sunglasses.

They even had functional ruby-tinted sunglasses — Barabon Glasses Ilgwang New City Branch really seemed to have everything.

Finished reading glasses

Mom's reading glasses, finished in 10 minutes

Fitting the single-compression lenses into the frame mom picked took only 10 minutes. Honestly it felt like less than that. Mom loved them, and said she felt great now that she could see so clearly!!

Friendly, trendy, speedy, and great value on top of it all. This place really gets my recommendation — I'll definitely be back next time.
