Butter chicken curry revisit near Yonsei Univ: Meno Kamena Sinchon

In short

Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch is an Indian curry restaurant on the 2nd floor of Yonsei-ro 11-gil, right by Yonsei University in Seodaemun, Seoul. A first visit went so well the writer returned for butter chicken curry, Indian-style chicken, naan, turmeric rice, and lassi, finding the spices mild enough to keep reaching for more. A solid pick in Sinchon when you want something different from the usual Korean or meat spots.

Today I'm introducing a Sinchon restaurant I liked so much on my first visit that I went back — Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch! Sinchon has so many restaurants that I always end up agonizing over what to eat. But sometimes, instead of the usual Korean food or meat, you crave something a bit different, right? That's when Indian curry comes to mind!

Meno Kamena in particular left me satisfied across the board on my last visit — the curry, the chicken, the lassi, all of it — so I decided to come back this time! It was also a place I genuinely wanted to return to.

An Indian-style space in front of Yonsei University that feels like a trip abroad

Since I often have reasons to be near Yonsei University, I'm always on the lookout for places to eat in Sinchon, and when I'm tired of the usual menus, somewhere like Meno Kamena that clearly offers something different is great! Walking in, the atmosphere is completely different from a typical Sinchon restaurant. It's decorated all over with Indian-style interior and props, so even though I came for a meal, it felt like a little trip abroad!

There's seating that works well for friends, and it also seemed fine for a group meal. Above all, curry itself is a dish that's great to share with several dishes laid out in the middle, so it would work well as a gathering spot too. Honestly, Sinchon has so many good restaurants that people usually chase new places rather than revisiting somewhere they've already been.

The naan was so crispy and delicious!

Nutty turmeric rice

The rice was turmeric rice, and it was so nutty and delicious! That's how satisfying my first visit was, and coming back this time to eat it again, I felt like I'd made the right choice. What I liked especially was that it wasn't just the curry that was good on its own — the whole combination of curry + chicken + salad + naan + lassi worked really well together. There's also the fun of ordering a bunch of dishes and sharing them.

If you want something a bit different from your usual meal in Sinchon, or you're looking for Indian curry near Yonsei University, this is worth a visit. If you're like me — someone who finds overly spiced food overwhelming but still loves Indian curry — I'd recommend starting with the butter chicken curry!

Butter chicken curry made with tomato and cream

New to Indian curry? Start with butter chicken curry

And the butter chicken curry, which I enjoyed just as much this time! For anyone worried about spices because it's their first time trying Indian curry, butter chicken curry is a relatively easy recommendation. It's a smooth, creamy curry made with tomato and cream, so overall it had a very nutty, rich flavor.

The first taste is mild, but as you keep eating, the distinctive curry aroma and savory depth slowly builds up! It's not the type that hits you with intense heat or overpowering spice, so I just kept going back for more. It's especially delicious paired with naan rather than eaten alone!!

The chicken was unforgettable too. Indian-style chicken has a completely different charm from the fried chicken we usually eat. It has a spice-forward yet clean flavor, and it paired especially well with the curry. It's tasty on its own, but personally, I loved pairing it lightly with the butter chicken curry. Adding the chicken's texture and flavor to the curry's smooth, rich taste made the whole meal so much more filling!

The lassi was also super sweet and delicious!

Since I've already gone back once, I think I'll keep returning whenever I crave Indian curry in Sinchon :) If you're searching for a good Indian curry restaurant in Sinchon, a good restaurant near Yonsei University, or a good restaurant near Sinchon Station, I recommend Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch!
