Nohyeong-dong, Jeju rice cake shop with additive-free omegi-tteok
In short
Suragan Tteokbang (수라간떡방) is a rice cake shop on Noyeon-ro in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City, on the road out to Jeju airport. Suragan Tteokbang makes its omegi-tteok (steamed millet rice cake with red bean) without additives, and this visit packed a 20-piece box (22,000 won) with five flavors — tangerine, mugwort, red bean, black sesame and nuts, four of each — while the rice cakes were being made behind the display counter. The box needs to go in the freezer the day you get it, so picking it up on the last day of a Jeju trip makes it a perfect gift to carry home.

Gift boxes and the other rice cakes at Suragan Tteokbang
Suragan Tteokbang also had gift boxes displayed off to one side. If you need something more formal for a gift, preparing it in one of these gift boxes seemed like a good option :)

Besides omegi-tteok and chapssaltteok, they had other kinds of rice cakes for sale too. While I was ordering my omegi-tteok and browsing around, customers just kept coming in. I could tell this place is already famous among locals as a great Jeju rice cake shop haha.

How Suragan Tteokbang packs the box, and when to pick it up
They pack everything so neatly, with ice packs included! haha The packaging box was also super cute!

I bought a 20-piece (₩22,000) takeout box of omegi-tteok! Since the shop is right on the way to the airport, I figured I could easily carry it, so I went with takeout instead of shipping haha. And since these rice cakes need to be frozen the same day you receive them, I'd really recommend picking them up on the last day of your trip!

Five omegi-tteok flavors, four pieces each: a 20-piece box
Ta-da, here's how I laid out my omegi-tteok haha. Tangerine, mugwort, red bean, black sesame, and nut omegi-tteok — I picked the flavors I wanted, four of each, for 20 pieces total!
Omegi-tteok is chewy rice cake coated with nutty bean powder, and with red bean, black sesame, tangerine, mugwort, and nuts all available, it's fun to pick and choose. Made without additives, the taste was natural and clean haha.
Is Suragan Tteokbang omegi-tteok a good gift from Jeju?
Suragan Tteokbang, right on the way to Jeju Airport, is a total recommend for gifts! The omegi-tteok is made without additives so the taste is natural and the quality is great. With tangerine, mugwort, red bean, black sesame, and nuts all available, it was fun picking out a variety. I bought the 20-piece takeout box, and the portion was generous and the packaging was neat too. Just remember you must freeze it on the day you receive it, so I recommend picking it up on the last day of your trip! It's the perfect souvenir to remember your Jeju trip by haha.
