Nohyeong-dong dakdoritang with free-flow ramyeon, Jeju: Deureomtong

In short

Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a Korean restaurant on Wonnohyeong-ro in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju, serving sotttukkeong dakdoritang (spicy chicken stew simmered in a wok-lid pot) over a drum burner. For a first-day lunch in Jeju, three servings of the dakdoritang bubbled for 10 minutes at the table, and because the order came in before 2pm the ramyeon noodle refills were unlimited. Deureomtong sits 13 minutes by car from Jeju Airport and stays open until 3am, so it works for a first meal off the plane or a late drink.

Hi everyone~ Hope you're having a great day! I just got back to Jeju after way too long~!!! Getting on a plane again after ages had me so excited, and being back in Jeju itself feels great too haha.

For lunch today I visited a Korean restaurant near Jeju Airport that's supposed to be really good — dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew)!! The taste was solid and the portions were huge, so I wanted to share it with you~

Where is Deureomtong in Nohyeong-dong, and what are the hours?

  • Name: Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang
  • Location: 53 Wonnohyeong-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju
  • Hours: Daily 11am–3am
  • Break time: 3pm–4:30pm
  • Last order: 2am
  • Parking: 4 spots beside the restaurant (double parking)

Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang was about a 13-minute drive from Jeju Airport. Since it's close to the airport and in a busy area, it's a great stop right after landing in Jeju or right before flying out! It's also near the Nohyeong five-way intersection, an area packed with good restaurants — but this place stays open until dawn, so it's perfect for a drink too~ Spicy dakdoritang broth with a shot of soju is unbeatable~

There's space for about 4 cars right next to the building!

Inside Deureomtong: drum tables and seating

Inside there's a spacious hall!! There are group tables and 4-person tables, and the tables were spaced far apart, so it was easy to talk. The windows on the side were wide open too, giving it an outdoor-dining kind of vibe — open and never stuffy~

Ordering sotttukkeong dakdoritang for three

This is the menu — you can order from 2 servings up, and there's also a solo meal menu~ Each table has a kiosk, which made ordering easy. You can also choose spice level, so it'd work great as a spicy side dish for drinks too!! I ordered the sotttukkeong dakdoritang for 3 people~

They had an apron, utensils, wet wipes and so on — with paper cups and chopsticks wrapped in paper, it felt nice and hygienic.

The side dishes were simple ones that pair well with dakdoritang. I liked that they had macaroni corn salad, which cuts the spice nicely 😊 You could also grab more from the self-serve bar if you ran low, which was great.

And here's the real perk of Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang!! If you order before 2pm, you get unlimited ramyeon noodle refills!!! Look at all those noodles stacked on the self-serve bar~ You could take as much as you wanted, and it was so great><

Ten minutes with the wok lid on the drum burner

This is the restaurant's real trademark~ Every table had its own drum burner!! They light the fire underneath, then set the wide wok-lid pot filled with dakdoritang right on top.

Ta-da!! Once the lid pot was set down, we let it simmer for about 10 minutes before eating. But the smell of dakdoritang was so good, and the table next to us was already digging in happily, so waiting was rough..ㅠㅠ It was loaded with chicken and all kinds of vegetables, and there was so much inside!! At first the broth looked like it might make the portion seem small, but no matter how much we ate, it never seemed to shrink haha. The pot is deep, so there's actually a ton of food in there~

The visuals were seriously amazing ㅜㅠㅠ Being in a wok-lid pot seems to make it boil even harder!! During the 10 minutes of cooking, a staff member came by and stirred it so nothing stuck to the bottom!!

How does the dakdoritang taste, and what's in the pot?

Inside the dakdoritang were big, tender chunks of chicken along with cheese tteok (rice cake), quail eggs, and regular tteok! The vegetables were generous too, and above all there was just so much chicken~ The seasoning was pleasantly spicy and there was no gamey chicken smell at all. The meat wasn't dry — it was tender and delicious!

A piece of chicken lifted out of the pot

After eating a good amount of the dakdoritang, we added the ramyeon noodles!! You can still see how much chicken was left, right? ㅋㅋㅋ We thought we'd eaten plenty already, but even after finishing off all the noodles, more chicken kept turning up...ㅋㅋㅋ This did not feel like just 3 servings 🤣🤣

Getting to eat chewy noodles like this unlimited?! If you love ramyeon noodles, make sure to visit before 2pm~ I originally planned to order rice too, but just one serving of noodles was already plenty filling. That's how much chicken and how generous the portions were~!!

Jellies and ppondegi snacks sold at the counter

Snacks at the Deureomtong counter

At the counter they were selling all kinds of snacks~ Jellies, ppondegi (chewy taffy snacks) — great travel snacks!! The meal itself was already satisfying, but being able to grab snacks on top of it was a nice bonus haha. If you're looking for a good restaurant or bar in Nohyeong-dong, Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang comes highly recommended for its taste and generous portions~
