In short

Thai Yami is a Thai restaurant in Gyodong (Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil), Jung-gu, Daegu. On a visit with a child, the order was kai phrai at 21,000 won, pad thai at 17,000 won and fresh-squeezed orange juice at 5,500 won, and the spices were mild enough that the child ate the kai phrai happily. Inside Thai Yami: window seats, bar seats and the atmosphere

Thai Yami's interior felt like a stylish café, with lovely window seating that made the whole vibe really nice. We grabbed a spot by the window 💛

What we ordered at Thai Yami, the prices and the complimentary crackers

At Thai Yami we ordered kai phrai (fried chicken, Thai-style) for 21,000 won, pad thai for 17,000 won, and fresh-squeezed orange juice for 5,500 won. Before the food arrives, crackers and corn salad come out first, and piling the nutty-sweet corn salad onto the crackers was the perfect appetite starter 👍🏻👍🏻 We wiped it out in no time...

Fresh-squeezed orange juice, 5,500 won

The fresh-squeezed orange juice was refreshing and not too sweet, so you could really taste the fruit itself, which I loved — and I loved that my kid and I could share a healthy drink! One sip and your mouth feels tangy and clean~

Kai phrai (fried chicken), 21,000 won — the dish the child ate most

Sprinkled generously with cheese, this is the kai phrai even my kid ate well. Crispy fried chicken comes with a side salad 👶🏻 and I got a "Mom, why is this so good!??" This dish satisfies adults and kids alike.

They drizzle a tangy sauce over the kai phrai~~ crispy outside, juicy inside~ It reminded me of dakgangjeong or ganpunggi (Korean-style sweet-spicy fried chicken), and it's delicious even plain...🥹

Kai phrai drizzled with sauce, served with salad

The texture was great, and eating it with the sauce and salad together was such a good combo. We really enjoyed it‼️

A plate of crispy fried kai phrai

Pad thai (stir-fried rice noodles), 17,000 won

The pad thai has rice noodles with great crunch, and it's spicy with insane savoriness. It was so good it ended up being spicy in a good way. Something everyone can enjoy!!

Spicy pad thai made with rice noodles

We finished the crackers so fast they refilled them for us haha. Little dishes like these pair perfectly with a highball or beer as anju (drinking snacks) — great for soaking in the atmosphere with a drink.

First time trying Thai food? Order pad thai plus kai phrai

Overall, Thai Yami's Thai dishes are tuned to Korean tastes‼️ The spicy kick of the pad thai paired really well with the crispy texture of the kai phrai, and finishing with the refreshing fresh-squeezed orange juice wrapped things up cleanly~

If you're picking a Thai restaurant for the first time, I recommend the pad thai + kai phrai combo 😋 If you're looking for a place in Gyodong, Daegu where you can eat a meal and have a drink too, why not give it a try??🏃
