Daegu bossam restaurant with table-side sesame grinding: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant on Gyeongsang-gamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, near the Dongin-dong jjimgalbi alley. On a 5pm family visit, the medium bossam at 39,000 won arrived with tender pork belly and pork jowl free of any porky smell, along with a mini mortar for grinding sesame seeds into soy sauce at the table. With wooden baby chairs on hand, Uldong Bossam works well for eating out with a small child.

Delivery O / solo dining O / group gatherings O
This is Kirijini, sharing only tier-1 Daegu spots. I used to hop from place to place writing about every restaurant, but these days I'm busy with parenting, group buys, and marketing, so my restaurant tours have definitely slowed down.
Today's spot is my husband's and my favorite dish — bossam (boiled pork wrap). Whenever we ordered bossam delivery, I always worried it would smell off, so finding a bossam place without that pork smell was like finding a needle in a haystack. When I lived in Pohang there were a few decent options, but in Daegu, this is the only place we go :-) I finally got the chance to visit with my family after a long while. Eating out with a baby is tough... I'm sure everyone can relate, haha.

A Dongseong-ro, Gyodong restaurant in Daegu — bossam is right here, haha

Where is Uldong Bossam, and where do you park?
Uldong Bossam is on Gyeongsang-gamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, and you could say it's near the Dongin-dong jjimgalbi (braised spicy ribs) alley. We had jjimgalbi in Dongin-dong not long ago — it was tasty but way too pricey. Jjimgalbi is great, but well-boiled bossam is cleaner and lighter, so my husband and I eat it often 😇
🔽Parking — there's no dedicated lot. On weekends you can use the City Hall parking lot, but it's paid! We used a friend's connection to park briefly at the apartment right next door.

What Uldong Bossam is like at 5pm
The interior at Uldong Bossam is incredibly clean and stylish. It's run by a young owner who clearly takes great pride in the food — someone who's staked his life on bossam. I'll get into the taste a bit later.

The old calligraphy paintings paired with wood furnishings felt like a bridge between past and present — it didn't even feel like a bossam restaurant. We arrived around 5pm and it was on the quieter side, with a few solo diners around. There's also a bossam full course set on the menu for around ₩10,000s, great for anyone looking for a hearty, healthy spread at a reasonable price.

Grinding sesame seeds in a mini mortar for the soy dipping sauce
Uldong Bossam's pork is meant to be dipped in this sesame soy sauce, and it pairs really well with the spicy sauce that comes alongside too. It's been ages since I ground sesame seeds in a mini mortar, haha. It would be easier if it just came pre-made, but I think these little details are exactly what turn a place into a hotspot 😀 That's my take anyway, haha.

The 39,000 won medium bossam: pork belly and pork jowl
We ordered the medium bossam we always get. If you want two people to eat their fill, order medium (₩39,000); for a moderate amount, order small. The owner is really friendly, so if you're unsure what to order, just ask — he'll explain everything 👍🏻

It comes with pork belly and pork jowl together. Tender, chewy, and with no off smell at all... the spread was generous enough for two people too. And honestly, it photographs so well, haha. The lighting is nice too, which really makes you want to take pictures.

There must be some kind of secret to how they boil this. The thickness was just right too — bossam that's cut too thin never has this chewy a texture. It's like they've studied the exact moisture level down to a confident 0.5mm.

Whenever my husband and I eat somewhere really good until we're stuffed, we always clap like seals and say we have to bring the parents next time — and Uldong Bossam was exactly that kind of place for us. Once word gets out a little more, this could easily become a place with a line out the door. Has it already?

Doenjang stew and the side dishes at Uldong Bossam
The vegetables served alongside paired well too. The doenjang (soybean paste) stew in particular was loaded with meat, giving the broth a deep, savory richness. There are several other herb side dishes too — try them one by one with the bossam and you'll notice a whole new charm each time.

Bossam dipped in a homemade sesame soy dressing — true to a Daegu bossam favorite, the meat and sauce felt clean, refined, and well-balanced. My husband is extremely picky about meat. If there's any smell or heaviness, he reacts to it right away. Uldong Bossam passed smoothly 🌟

This herb side dish was really delicious. Perilla leaves, maybe? It's a doenjang-seasoned dish, nutty and addictive — total rice thief.

The wrap vegetables are refillable too. Some people eat the boiled pork on its own without wrapping it, but I'm a wrap enthusiast so I love wrapping mine up. I add minari (water dropwort) on top for a crisp bite too. The pickled radish that comes with it wasn't too thick either, and the crunchy texture was great.

Can you bring a toddler? The wooden baby chair
Uldong Bossam had a baby chair, of course, and even the baby chair was a sturdy, solid-wood... chair. As a mom who's gotten used to Ikea chairs, a good chair like this makes me happy haha 😗🌿 Being a good restaurant to visit with a baby earned it extra points too, haha.
I have a feeling we'll be revisiting a lot. We're going again soon ourselves. Since they also do takeout, I should stop by more often. Five stars for the first time in a while 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
