Whenever I walked around the B1 level of Daegu Shinsegae, I was always curious about Siznique because the line was so long. This birthday, I went there without hesitation to buy the cake I wanted to eat 😋

It is on the B1 level of Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch, with excellent access right from Dongdaegu Station and Dongdaegu Terminal, so I recommend travelers pop in for a purchase too. A worthwhile stop on a bakery crawl ❣️ They have mini sizes as well. For trips longer than an hour, a cooler bag is recommended; it costs an extra ₩2,000, just so you know!

A Saturday-afternoon wait and worries about sellouts

I visited around 5 p.m. on Saturday, and I was surprised by the long waiting line for a cake specialty shop. But since everyone was taking their cakes straight away, buying one did not take as long as I expected‼️

The cakes that had filled the case were disappearing in no time, in real time haha.

You can even catch a little glimpse of the fig cake tucked inside its box haha.

They have simple candles ready for events, anniversaries, and birthdays haha. For anyone buying a Siznique cake for the first time, I think the biggest questions will naturally be the wait time and whether cakes sell out‼️

You can also reserve through Naver, so for a special day I definitely recommend making a reservation before you visit 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 There was a line on the day I went, but the purchase itself was quick. If you could not reserve, the cake you want may be gone later in the day, so it will feel more reassuring to visit before it gets too late.

It was peach season, so maybe that was why they were so popular—there were not many left... I briefly debated: mango or peach? Hahaha.

Isn't the packaging so pretty and luxurious?? This was the moment I felt that even this kind of thoughtfulness is different at a department-store location haha.

Why was the cake in such perfect condition....

As it turned out, there was an ice pack inside the cake packaging.. Such thoughtful care 👍🏻👍🏻

A mild whipped-cream cake packed with mango

The detail and luxury of even having gold flakes sprinkled on top... 🥹🥹 The first thing I noticed with one bite was the mild, clean flavor distinctive to milk whipped cream, with none of that greasy feeling. I usually cannot eat more than one slice because cake quickly becomes too rich, but even after eating lots of this, it felt easy on my stomach because about 80% of it was mango hahaha.

A look that makes you want to eat it before even blowing out the candles..... The mango was so delicious—fresh fruit with great sweetness, beyond expectations... I said “wow” for what felt like the hundredth time hahaha. The amazing thing is, the ratio seemed like 80% mango ➡️ 15% whipped cream ➡️ 5% cake??? Hahaha. It really was a fruit avalanche, honestly haha.

The mango had ripened beautifully, so the flesh was soft and sweet, and paired with the mild whipped cream, the combination was incredible.....

There were little pieces of mango tucked inside the cake too, so every bite came with mango. The whipped cream was not overly sweet—just right. Adults would absolutely love it too‼️‼️

My conclusion after having it as a family birthday cake

The mango cake was even more delicious because the cake layers were moist. With whipped cream and mango between the soft layers, it had a moist texture as well as fruity sweetness 💛 My family does not usually eat a lot of cake at once even when we buy one, but my child ate so well that we ended up eating until the whole family was full hahaha.

It had been such a long time since our family had eaten almost an entire cake while saying how delicious it was, so I will have to come back for my husband's upcoming birthday too ❣️ If you are looking for a delicious birthday cake in Daegu, this is an absolute must. Please try it‼️
