Smokeless down-draft hood BBQ in Gwangalli for kids: Haean Sutbul
In short
Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork and beef restaurant a three-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. Arriving at 6:30pm with a child after school pickup, the writer ordered the pork galbi set for 2–3 people (2 servings raw ribs plus 2 servings marinated ribs), a 3,000-won kids' meal and pork kimchi stew with potato noodles, and grilled pork tail as well. Down-draft hoods over each table pull the smoke away, so Haean Sutbul Galbi works as a family dinner with no smell left on your clothes.

Today I came out to Gwangalli for some fresh air with my kid. Honestly, I'd bought sand play toys and my kid wanted to use them right away haha, so the first place that came to mind after pickup was Gwangalli Beach. Since we were already in Gwangalli, we visited Haean Sutbul Galbi, a Gwangalli restaurant close to the beach :) They have a kids' menu too, so I'll recommend Haean Sutbul Galbi to anyone doing a family dinner in Gwangalli with kids!!

Haean Sutbul Galbi in Gwangalli: location, hours and parking
- Location: 35 Namcheonbada-ro, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan
- Hours: 5pm–1am next day (last order midnight)
- Parking: not supported, recommend using a nearby paid lot
- I used the parking lot directly across the street — closest one!
Intro: located in Gwangalli, this restaurant specializes in charcoal-grilled pork and beef.
Domestic grade-1 pork ribs and carefully chosen beef ribs are grilled over real charcoal for deep flavor — all the pork used is domestic grade-1 chilled meat, and the raw ribs are further sorted and low-temperature aged for an even more premium taste!
Also, Haean Sutbul Galbi's signature marinated ribs are aged in a house-made sauce using only domestic ingredients like pear, onion, and garlic, giving a soft, deep flavor without harsh sweetness — a dish you can enjoy all the way through the meal without getting tired of it!!
It's a 3-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach! Basically right in front... oo the parking lot I used wasn't a tower lot, so I planned to go grab the sand toys after eating haha.
What time should you arrive to avoid the wait?
We visited around 6:30, and it seemed like the peak was just starting! From 7pm, an hour-long wait was pretty much guaranteed. (Good thing we had a reservation...haha) The place is spacious and comfortable! One side was packed with customers so I couldn't take photos, but I'll reveal the secret to the smell-free comfort at the end :)

What we ordered, including the 3,000-won kids' meal
The menu at Haean Sutbul Galbi in Gwangalli. I ordered the pork galbi set for 2-3, the kids' meal, and pork kimchi stew (with added potato noodles). One nice thing about this restaurant is that they have a separate menu just for kids, which made it great to visit with my child :)

The side dishes at Haean Sutbul Galbi. Everything I love is here :) From the basic salt to radish salad, green onion salad, and lettuce wraps!! Salad and japchae are nice too, but I really love the radish salad~ and my kid loves the baek-kimchi (white kimchi) too~

The pork galbi set for 2-3 arrived — 2 servings of raw ribs plus 2 servings of marinated ribs!

The kids' meal for my child came out. Seasoned seaweed, rice, doenjang stew!! All that for 3,000 won is really pretty great, right?!!

Raw ribs with barley shrimp salt and kimchi stew with potato noodles
Grilling up the raw pork ribs. Since the meat is low-temperature aged, it was super tender! When a kid eats it well, that means it's not tough haha.
The pork kimchi stew. I added noodles, and the chewy potato noodles were perfect~ I was going to ask for extra noodles separately to put in my kid's doenjang stew too, but sadly, mom and dad ate it all up~~
Munching on the pork ribs. The first bite was dipped in a special salt made from ground barley shrimp sourced from Yeonggwang, Jeonnam, on the staff's recommendation! I'm usually a sauce person who loves piling stuff into my wraps, but even just dipped in salt, it maximized the pork flavor — amazing depth of savoriness!! But being a wrap lover, I still wrapped it up neatly and ate more. Haha.
Now for the marinated pork ribs, but I noticed Haean Sutbul Galbi in Gwangalli was running a review event! Couldn't pass that up~ Boneless grilled pork tail is said to be like an upgraded version of pork skin, with a chewy texture and rich meaty aroma — very curious haha. Apparently it gets more savory the more you grill it, but I don't know all that, I just figured it'd be perfect with drinks, so I joined the review event to try it :)

Grilling the marinated pork ribs. Grilling the pork tail.
Why the down-draft hoods make dinner with a child easy
Wait, so I mentioned from the moment I walked in that the place felt super comfortable, right? Turns out this is why. Haean Sutbul Galbi in Gwangalli has installed a down-draft hood system, so you can eat without smoke or smell!! Amazing. It's basically inevitable that your clothes smell like meat afterward, so this is a huge plus haha. Visiting with a kid, smoke is always a worry too, so being able to eat comfortably was really great :)

Feeding my husband the draft beer he raved about, plus the marinated pork ribs. He said the draft beer was seriously delicious and insisted I try it too ^^ He recommends the marinated ribs with radish salad, but honestly any combo works — the meat was so good, we ate well haha.

This grilled pork tail was somewhere between pig's feet and chewy pork skin, but really satisfying?!! Since there's no bone, I ate it whole, but I think slicing it thin and grilling it crispy would make for a whole different delicacy too. Ah~ we ate so well and got so full.

After dinner: playing in the sand at Gwangalli Beach
Stopped by Gwangalli Beach to keep my promise of sand play with my kid :) Haha. Since this Gwangalli restaurant is just 3 minutes from the beach, we had a filling meal, took a walk, watched some fireworks, and let my kid play in the sand :) A really full day haha. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gwangalli, or a place to visit with kids in Gwangalli, I highly recommend Haean Sutbul Galbi — great for family dinners or dates too!!!
