Gwangalli brunch restaurant with half-and-half pizza: Extra Mile

I had some free time on a weekday afternoon, so I headed out for lunch. Since it was a bit early, I decided to go find a good brunch spot. The restaurant is called "Extra Mile."

Honestly, lunch and brunch feel a little different to me. Brunch has more of an emotional, mood-driven vibe. The food obviously has to taste good, but beyond that I really pay attention to the atmosphere of the place — that certain brunch feeling, you know?

Where is Extra Mile and where do you park?

Extra Mile is near Gwangalli Beach. It's also close to Gwangan Station — about a 5-minute walk from Exit 5.

There's no dedicated parking lot for the restaurant, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot. Boseong Private Parking Lot is the closest to the store.

Extra Mile is open from 11:30 in the morning to 9 pm. Last order is at 20:00.

What Extra Mile looks like inside and out

The exterior of the place was really pretty. It felt like a converted house — and a genuinely neat, pretty one at that.

The interior was just as clean. The decor was so bright and cheerful, and the atmosphere was really nice.

We visited during the early lunch hour, and even though it was a weekday, there were quite a lot of people — almost fully booked. If we'd come any later I think we would have had to wait, but luckily we got there early enough to grab a seat.

You can see the kitchen at work from the seats. Water, pickles and sauces are set up self-serve for convenience.

Extra Mile menu and what comes in the Classic Combo set

Extra Mile's main offerings seem to be pizza and pasta, plus set menus. You can pair these with sides or drinks.

Since we wanted both pizza and pasta, we ordered the Classic Combo set. It's a set for two, and you get to choose one pizza and one pasta from the several options of each. One thing I really liked was that the pizza can be made half-and-half, so we could try two flavors. We went with hot honey pepperoni and salad pizza split in half, and for the pasta we chose the bisque cream pasta.

While waiting, we looked around the restaurant. There was paper and crayons on the table, so we doodled while we waited. It had been ages since I last colored with crayons like this — it felt surprisingly fresh and fun.

How does the salad and hot honey pepperoni half-and-half pizza taste?

The pizza came out first. Figuring it's better to eat vegetables first, I started with the salad pizza.

The salad pizza isn't overpowering — you get the fresh, bright taste of the vegetables. Thanks to the sauce and cranberries it's a bit sweet, and the nuts give it a nice nutty flavor too. It seemed like the kind of menu item women in particular would love.

The hot honey pepperoni pizza was a completely different story — spicy and bold. But personally I really enjoyed it. It's spicy, but not too spicy, just enough heat to whet your appetite, which made it really delicious to eat. I'm also personally a big fan of pepperoni.

Bisque cream pasta with shrimp and gamtae seaweed

The bisque cream pasta arrived next. It had shrimp and gamtae (seasoned laver seaweed), and it looked really pretty too. When I tasted it, it had that flavor like something mixed with crab innards.

If you love crab, this savory, salty flavor will drive you wild. It was so good I scraped up every bit of the sauce. The gamtae and shrimp went really well with the pasta too.

Is Extra Mile worth it? Final verdict

Overall, the food was really delicious. And personally, I think the three dishes we picked today paired together really well.

It was the best possible combination for tasting sweet, spicy, and savory flavors all in harmony. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice that I want to come back and try other menu items next time. This feels like the restaurant that comes to mind when you think of Gwangalli pizza and Gwangalli pasta.
