Dapsimni Korean BBQ weekday lunch: 9,000-won cold noodles at Dwaegal
In short
Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba Dapsimni Station Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Gomisul-ro in Dongdaemun, Seoul, grilling marinated pork ribs over real charcoal. On a Monday lunch, the day after a four-day trip to Beijing, the writer ordered two servings of marinated pork ribs (300g each), the lunch mul-naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) and cheese steamed egg for 50,000 won total. The mild naengmyeon broth at Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba lingered longer than the ribs, and the yogurt served at the end cleared the palate.

If you're looking for pork ribs in Dapsimni, it comes down to one place: Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba. Charcoal-grilled marinated ribs run ₩19,000 for 300g, and if you add a lunch mul-naengmyeon at ₩9,000, two people can eat for around ₩50,000.
I went at around 12:30pm on Monday, September 14, 2026. That was the day after I got back from a 3-night, 4-day trip to Beijing.

Three quick takeaways from lunch at Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba
- The marinade isn't sharp or aggressive — it's made with blended fruit, so the finish is subtle
- The mul-naengmyeon stuck with me more than the ribs did. I did not see that coming
- They give you a yogurt at the end, and it wraps up the meal really cleanly

Why pork ribs in Dapsimni, of all places
Here's what I ate in Beijing over 3 nights, 4 days: duck, lamb skewers, dim sum, more lamb skewers. By the last day, the spice flavor wouldn't leave my mouth. On the flight back into Incheon, only two things were on my mind: charcoal-grilled pork ribs, and mul-naengmyeon with ice floating in it.
So I came straight here for lunch the next day. Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba is a 5-minute walk from Dapsimni Station — just walk toward the Gomisul antique market street.
Walking in, the dining hall was bigger than I expected. A couple of solo office workers, and one group of older folks at a 4-person table. It seemed like the kind of time slot when people search 'Dapsimni restaurant' and show up.
Parking: 3 spots out front plus 2 mechanical, so 5 total. Free valet is also available. Given how tight parking is in this neighborhood, that's a real plus.
What two people ordered for 50,000 won
Here's the order we placed:
- Marinated pork ribs 300g / 2 servings / ₩38,000
- Mul-naengmyeon / ₩9,000
- Cheese steamed egg / ₩3,000
- Total: ₩50,000
It came out to exactly ₩50,000. Two people eating until stuffed for that price is cheap by today's Korean BBQ standards.
The side dishes all come out on one tray at once: acorn jelly, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), bean sprouts, shredded green onion, and lettuce for wraps. The shredded green onion was a bit different here — usually at BBQ places it's soaked in chojang sauce and limp, but Dwaegal Gongmyeong Soba's version is dry and crisp. A bite of ribs topped with that green onion was the best combination.
The raw meat that comes out is a deep, rich red. The marinade color isn't jet black — that's the key point. A lot of places pickle the meat in a dark soy-caramel color, but here the marinade is just a thin coating on the meat.
Marinated pork ribs hitting the charcoal grill
The charcoal here is real charcoal. Not a gas grill — the heat differs from top to bottom. The edges of the grill are weaker, the center is strongest.
So there's a trick to it: sear the surface quickly for about 30 seconds in the center, then push it right to the edge. Marinated ribs have sugar in them, so if you leave them in the center too long, they burn fast.
Taking a bite, the sweetness doesn't hit up front. The menu description said the marinade is made from blended fruit and vegetables, and eating it, that description makes sense. Sugar-based sweetness usually hits the front of your tongue right away, but this one rises subtly after you chew.
The menu lists the owner's 30 years of experience handling meat, saying he learned at an old-school pork rib place in Wangsimni. Honestly, every place has a story like that, so I didn't think much of it — but seeing the condition of the meat, it wasn't a baseless claim.

They say they only use pork neck and rib cuts, and in practice, nothing tough came out. 300g for 2 servings is a good fit for one woman and one man; if it's two men, you'd probably want to order another plate.
The 9,000-won lunch mul-naengmyeon was the real highlight
I genuinely did not expect this. Naengmyeon at BBQ restaurants is usually just there for show, so I ordered it with no expectations.

The broth is on the mild side. Not a sharp sweet-and-sour flavor — more of a lingering meat-stock taste. With the rib marinade still on my palate, this cleaned everything right up.
The noodles seem to have a decent buckwheat ratio, since they snap easily. If you dislike chewy, rubber-band-like noodles, these will suit you.
It's a ₩9,000 lunch naengmyeon, but it comes with doenjang soup and 3 side dishes too. At that price, you wouldn't lose out even coming just for the naengmyeon alone.

Yogurt to finish the meal
Right as we were about to get up, they gave us a yogurt each. Seems like a small thing, but it wraps up the meal cleanly. It felt like the charcoal smell and marinade flavor lingering in my mouth got cleared out in one go. If you've got plans to meet someone in the afternoon, definitely take this.
