Duryu-dong, Daegu gukbap restaurant with ₩3,000 soju: Ungjin Dalseo
In short
Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap is a pork gukbap (pork and rice soup) restaurant near Exit 3 of Gamsam Station in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, open until 1am. The kettle-boiled pork gukbap came with generous, tender meat, and the osori-muchim (spicy seasoned pork offal) was crunchy with no gamey smell, making it a solid drinking snack. Soju and beer are ₩3,000, so plenty of weeknight solo drinkers were in, and the portions were more than enough for two people to eat their fill.

A Dalseo-gu favorite: pork gukbap

Today I went to my favorite gukbap (Korean soup with rice) place in Duryu-dong!! The pork gukbap spot that turned me — someone who never liked gukbap — into a gukbap person...

Where is Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap? Hours and parking

With the season turning colder and warm gukbap sounding so good, I went back to my favorite gukbap place. I've genuinely tried a lot of gukbap, but this one instantly became my favorite because it suits my taste so well. It's easy to eat alone, the space is spacious and clean, the staff are kind, and above all it's just... really, really delicious. You have to try it.

What we ordered at Ungjin Dalseo, plus ₩3,000 soju and beer
That day at Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap we ordered the kettle-boiled pork gukbap and the osori-muchim (seasoned skate side dish).

By the way, soju and beer for 3,000 won in this day and age...? Maybe that's why there were quite a few people drinking solo even on a weekday evening.

Side dishes at Ungjin Dalseo: kimchi, kkakdugi and the table setup
The side dishes came out quickly 👍🏻 Honestly, I think kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) are the true essence of a gukbap restaurant, and here the spicy, well-fermented kkakdugi pairs perfectly with the rich bone broth, plus a crunchy fresh-style kimchi — it's the best...!! Even the water isn't plain water but tastes like a cool tea, which felt like a nice touch.

On top of that, they even have aprons and hair ties available, and I liked how each set of chopsticks and spoon came individually wrapped — fewer hands touching them means more hygienic. Even in details like this, you can feel the owner's thoughtfulness...
Kettle-boiled pork gukbap: how much meat and how the broth tastes
Here's the kettle-boiled pork gukbap, served quickly. You can already tell it's a good place, right? The neatly sliced meat is genuinely delicious.

Can you see the size...? The ratio of meat to fat was perfect, boiled until tender — delicious eaten separately with rice, and there's still plenty left even after mixing it into the soup.

The plating looks better than some Michelin gukbap places... The portion is really generous and tasty, so it made for a hearty, satisfying meal! The broth is rich and delicious too, pairing even better with rice. The meat was really plentiful, giving it a filling feel, and the seasoning overall was just right, so it was easy to eat without feeling overwhelmed. After one bowl I felt full and quite satisfied.
Above all, the portion for the price is really solid, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value gukbap place. We went as two women and it came out so filling... there was barely room left in our stomachs.
Is osori-muchim a good drinking snack?
And now, the moment we've been waiting for: osori-muchim

Honestly, this was my first time ever ordering osori-muchim, and it was surprisingly delicious. I'd recommend ordering it once as a side dish or drinking snack 👍🏻👍🏻
The vegetables were really fresh and crunchy, giving it great texture! The seasoning wasn't too intense but blended together nicely, making it a flavor you keep reaching for. There wasn't a hint of the fishy smell you'd expect from skate, so I could eat it comfortably. The portion was more generous than expected too, good for sharing with several people, and truly the best drinking snack... I'm definitely ordering this again from now on.

Country-of-origin labels and the atmosphere at Ungjin Dalseo
And have you ever seen a country-of-origin sign this full of domestic Korean products these days? It seems really hard to find lately, so this felt great. I'd recommend it since even little ones can eat here worry-free.

And the interior is spotless too... In many ways, you could feel how carefully the owner pays attention to details, which I appreciated. I was really satisfied with the food, and I hope this place gets even more popular.

Considering how much dining-out prices have gone up these days, this amount of food and this flavor at this price feels really satisfying. Honestly, I don't think there's another place quite like it. It's a comfortable spot to visit whenever you want warm gukbap, and I think I'll be back to eat here again next time!
