Busan Korean gastropub for beef intestine hot pot after work: Jansang
In short
Jansang is a Korean gastropub in the Deokcheon food alley of Buk-gu, Busan. After work, the writer and her husband took an outdoor, food-stall-style table at Jansang and ordered the house best-seller woosamgyeop daechang jeongol (thin-sliced beef and beef intestine hot pot, 28,000 won) plus myeongran mayo shrimp stir-fry (16,000 won); the intestine was plump and the broth was cleaner and lighter than expected. Anyone who wants a fiery, spicy broth may be disappointed, but both dishes went well with soju or beer.

My husband and I finally went out for a drink after work — we visited a Korean gastropub in Deokcheon that's supposed to be a local favorite.
[Jansang] - A memorable night at this cooking bar -
And here's how it went!!

This visit was through a sponsored campaign, but I'm not the type to say everything's great just because it's sponsored, haha. If it's good, I'll say it's good; if something's lacking, I'll say so! So here's exactly how it tasted to me.

What is Jansang in Deokcheon food alley like inside and out?
Jansang is a Korean gastropub in the Deokcheon food alley. From outside, the sign is smaller than its neighbors', but the warm lighting catches your eye first. The phrase on the sign — "a cooking bar, a memorable night" — matched the mood perfectly, and once inside it felt more atmospheric than I expected.

Vintage walls, aesthetic postcards, posters, plants, and soft lighting made it a great spot for a drink after work.

There are about 5–6 tables inside, and outside there's a food-stall-style semi-outdoor space — we thought the mood there looked good, so we sat there.
Jansang menu and prices
We showed up starving, and the moment I saw the menu I wanted to order everything...

The hot pots looked great, the chicken dishes were intriguing, and there were quite a few side dishes too, so we agonized for a while, haha. In the end we went with the two dishes marked as best-sellers: woosamgyeop daechang jeongol (beef pork belly and large intestine hot pot) and myeongran mayo shrimp stir-fry! At the time of my visit, the menu listed the hot pot at ₩28,000 and the shrimp stir-fry at ₩16,000.

Beef and intestine hot pot, 28,000 won: how much intestine, and how is the broth?
The hot pot came out first! The moment the pot arrived, I noticed there was way more large intestine (daechang) in it than I expected — oh? haha.
As you can see in the photo, the pieces of large intestine were fairly big and plump, so anyone who loves daechang should be satisfied.
I worried that once it started boiling, the fat from the daechang would make the broth greasy, but once I tried it, the broth was surprisingly light and clean!!
The beef pork belly wasn't tough either and was easy to eat, and there was a good amount of bean sprouts, perilla leaves, and onion mixed in, so it didn't feel like just eating meat. Personally I usually prefer a spicier, more fiery broth in hot pots and soups, so to my taste it would have been even better with more heat and kick. That said, it wasn't bland either — it's the kind of broth that's easy to keep spooning up while sipping soju!!

The plump daechang had a proper nutty flavor when you chewed it. Eating the pork belly and daechang together with a spoonful of broth... that's a combo that makes it hard NOT to order a drink!!! Honestly, the menu I kept going back and forth on was mokdoritang (chicken neck dakdoritang) — it looked delicious too, so I'll try it next time I visit!!

Myeongran mayo shrimp stir-fry, 16,000 won: smoky, sweet and salty
While the hot pot was simmering, the myeongran mayo shrimp stir-fry arrived. This dish looked like the ultimate drinking snack right from the start!!

In the middle there's a generous bed of stir-fried cabbage and onion, topped with a very generous amount of myeongran mayo (pollock roe mayo) sauce. Plump shrimp surround it, and there's a distinct smoky, grilled flavor that hits from the first bite. The shrimp themselves were plump with a good chewy bite,

and pairing the sweetly stir-fried cabbage and onion with the salty, creamy myeongran mayo made for a really well-matched sweet-salty-savory flavor! Piling the shrimp with vegetables and myeongran mayo together in one bite was delicious.
We kept picking at it piece by piece while waiting for the hot pot to finish boiling — I couldn't stop reaching for more, haha.

Is it too much to order both dishes at Jansang?
I liked that the flavors of the two dishes didn't overlap. The hot pot, with its warm broth, made me want soju, while the shrimp stir-fry, with its nutty, smoky flavor, was a perfect match for beer! I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting after work like us, looking for a meal plus a drink. Depending on which dish you order, it's a great place to get comfortably full and have a drink.

As for the basic side dishes, the pickled onion was good for cleansing your palate between bites, and the honey twist snack (kkulkkwabaegi) was nice to pick at whenever things felt slow.

What kind of night suits a visit to Jansang?
Overall, Jansang was a good place to try a variety of Korean drinking snacks — a good pick in Deokcheon for a day when you want a calmer place to chat and drink with your husband or friends, rather than a chaotic bar. When we visited, there were several tables of men in their 30s–40s, so it also seemed like a fine spot for a work dinner! Most of all, both dishes I had went well with either soju or beer, which perfectly fit the idea of a drink after work.

What I liked about the woosamgyeop daechang jeongol was that the daechang was plump and generous in amount, and the broth was cleaner and lighter than expected,

and the combo of smoky shrimp with nutty myeongran mayo in the shrimp stir-fry stuck with me. Next time I'll try the mokdoritang I missed this time and come back with another honest review, haha.

If you're looking for somewhere in Deokcheon to enjoy Korean drinking snacks with a drink, give the Korean gastropub Jansang a try!!
