Hamburg omurice near Wonju City Hall: Ichigyu, a Japanese restaurant
In short
Ichigyu Wonju is a Japanese restaurant in Musil-dong, Wonju, inside the Lotte Cinema building, about 3 minutes by car from Wonju City Hall and Baegun Art Hall. With only 20 minutes before a concert, the writer took her parents for hamburg omurice at 17,000 won and hot-plate chopped steak at 18,000 won, and her mother, who sets a high bar for restaurants, ate without saying a word. Not getting to try the gyukatsu is the only reason a second visit at Ichigyu Wonju is already planned.

A Wonju dinner before a concert at Baegun Art Hall, next to Wonju City Hall
Hi, this is Teolkkiri 🐘 The day I went to Wonju to see Kim Jong-seo's concert with my mom and dad, the venue was Baegun Art Hall, right next to Wonju City Hall. Dad had been working that morning, so as I looked for a good restaurant near the venue, I found a Japanese place that felt like something my parents would love. Took them straight there!

Parking and the dining room at Ichigyu Wonju
Ichigyu Wonju is in the Lotte Cinema building, so we parked underground and went up — and wow, the vibe was so pretty even in daylight ✨ Unmistakably a Japanese restaurant, haha.

Why booking a table at Ichigyu Wonju is worth it
We had to eat fast and get to the venue, so we booked ahead — and I really recommend reserving. Even on a Sunday afternoon, people kept streaming in. You might end up waiting otherwise. With good baby chairs, there were a lot of families, plus plenty of couples on dates.

What we ordered with only 20 minutes to eat
My parents had never tried gyukatsu 🥹 I genuinely wanted to treat them to it, but it's not an excuse — we simply didn't have the time. About 20 minutes to eat, total, haha.

My dad, who loves eggs, ordered the hamburg omurice (rice omelet with a hamburg steak patty), and my mom and I, who love meat and vegetables, ordered the hot-plate chapsteak.

Just a heads-up before you order: leaving a Naver receipt review gets you free fried shrimp!
Hamburg omurice, 17,000 won

It came out looking exactly as I'd pictured 🍛 Like something straight out of a manga!

My egg-loving dad just gazed at it happily as soon as he saw it, haha.
I tried to film that dramatic slow reveal shot but apparently video is still too advanced for him... (and he's a 6-year blogger!)

The side dishes served with the meal
Simple sides: cabbage salad, pickles, wasabi, sliced pickled ginger, and a light soup.
Ta-da ✨ Then we poured on the sauce that came with the omurice —

— and it turned into this mouth-watering plate of omurice. The smell was seriously insane — I stole a bite from Dad's plate before mine even arrived and thought, 'ugh, I should've ordered this,' haha.
Hot-plate chopped steak, 18,000 won

Haha, my hungry mom went, 'Mine's the same as yours, so you only need to photograph yours, right?' and then just dug right in 🤣 'You didn't order the same thing just for this, did you?'

The chapsteak came with a bowl of fluffy rice on the side — even the rice alone looked delicious.

That impatient mom of mine, honestly... 🙂↔️ The side dishes were the same as with the hamburg omurice!

How my mother, a tough judge of restaurants, reacted
Ugh, looking at these photos makes me want to eat it all over again. My mom has been to so many good restaurants that her standards are really high, and when she comes along on my sponsored visits she rarely says a place is good.

Look at how much wasabi she piled on, haha. She didn't say a word about how good it was — just kept eating. This is the most rewarding part of blogging, honestly. Found another great Wonju restaurant! 💗

I gave my dad the broccoli that looks just like his hair, and he said the chapsteak was great too!

See how clean that plate is? It was a shame we didn't have time for the gyukatsu, but they both ate so well that it was a meal with zero regrets 💗

How long does it take from Baegun Art Hall and Wonju City Hall?
Kim Jong-seo's national tour stop in Wonju was held at Baegun Art Hall, right next to Wonju City Hall, and Ichigyu Wonju turned out to be about 3 minutes away from City Hall, traffic lights included, haha. That was another huge plus. Honestly, this Wonju restaurant, Ichigyu Wonju, was just perfect all around ✨ My parents said they want to come back, so next time we're in Wonju, we'll definitely stop by again 🙂
