Chuncheon tonkatsu before LEGOLAND with two kids: Jeongseong Katsu

We bought a season pass to LEGOLAND for my two sons who love it, so we end up in Chuncheon pretty often these days. Last weekend, we stopped by Jeongseong Katsu, a Toegye-dong, Chuncheon favorite, for lunch with the kids.

Where is Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch, and where do you park?

This Toegye-dong tonkatsu spot is near the Yuseung Hannaeul apartments. It's a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk from Namchuncheon Station. Your car's built-in navigation might direct you to the old location, so search on T map or Naver Map instead.

There's free basement parking in the building. The entrance is around the back of the store, so you'll need to loop around to find it.

Is Jeongseong Katsu easy to visit with young kids?

The place is clean overall with plenty of tables. There are kids' chairs for families with little ones, and each table has its own tablet ordering system, so you can order comfortably from your seat.

We got there around 11am on a weekend and there were plenty of open seats inside, but the app was flooded with takeout and delivery orders. Felt like we'd found the real deal 👀

Staff bring out the first round of side dishes, and you help yourself to refills. They even gave us kids' chopsticks and a kids' tray, which made mealtime so much easier for the kids 🫶🏻

Depending on how many people leave a receipt review, you can get a free drink, 2 pieces of fried shrimp, or cold soba on the house.

Jeongseong Katsu menu and prices

Alongside signature tonkatsu dishes like the Western-style king tonkatsu, pork loin katsu, fillet katsu, cheese katsu, and pork jowl katsu, there are noodle and rice-based dishes too — pasta, udon, cold soba, and rice bowls. The cheese-loaded katsu and sweet potato cheese katsu come as sets, and you can add 2 more pieces if you want!

How the king tonkatsu set and cheese-loaded katsu set tasted

Ta-da — our food arrived. It came with mini rice, kimchi, pickles, cabbage salad, tonkatsu sauce, and udon broth on the side. The cheese katsu also had salt, wasabi, and curry sauce added.

The Western-style king tonkatsu set was a generous portion, about the size of an adult's palm. Since we were sharing with the kids, we asked for the sauce on the side. They gave us plenty, so there was more than enough to dip generously 👍🏻

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside — no wonder the kids devoured it. Dunk it deep into that sweet-and-tangy sauce!

This is the cheese-loaded katsu set. We ordered it for the adults, but my older son suddenly declared it delicious too and swiped it (?) for himself — don't tell anyone 😂 My son, forcing his parents onto a diet.

Thinly pounded meat, a crispy coating, and soft, savory cheese that stretches forever. The flavorful curry was the real kicker — if we come back, I'm definitely trying the curry rice bowl next time!
