Where is Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, and is parking easy?
A rice cake shop in Yullyang-dong

Tteokmama, a rice cake shop in Yullyang-dong, Cheongju, sits in a spot that's easy to reach — great for anyone living in the neighborhood!
Tteokmama Yullyang Branch is located at 94 Gonghang-ro, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju. It's open daily from 9am to 9pm, so it's also good for grabbing tteok (rice cake) in the morning.

There's a wide parking area right behind the store, so it's super convenient whether you're stopping by for tteok or using it as a café to enjoy a drink alongside your rice cake.

Here's the exterior of Tteokmama Yullyang Branch. Even at a glance, the layout looks clean and spacious. I visited with family last time and the tteok was delicious, so I came back.

If you're looking for thank-you rice cakes (dallaetteok) in Cheongju, Tteokmama Yullyang is apparently the #1 store for them! The owner clearly has skilled hands...!

Tteokmama also has table-setting sets. People tend to buy a lot of tteok for ancestral rites, Chuseok, or Lunar New Year, so having a ready-made spread set makes things easier.

And there's Chuseok songpyeon (half-moon rice cake) too. Ossaek gge songpyeon and kong songpyeon are ₩18,000 per 1kg / ₩35,000 for a 2kg gift box, and mosi songpyeon is ₩20,000 per 1kg / ₩39,000 for a 2kg gift box.

A lot of people use Tteokmama Yullyang as a café too! I've seen older customers order tteok and a drink together several times at the café. Tteok feels more traditional than bread, but it actually pairs really well with drinks!

Which Tteokmama rice cakes work as thank-you gifts and gift sets?
Next, let me introduce the tteok at Tteokmama, the Yullyang-dong rice cake shop. First, my favorite — fruit mochi! Fruit mochi has gotten so expensive lately, but here you can enjoy it for about ₩1,500 each.

There's also jeolpyeon (pressed rice cake) and cute five-color tteok, plus yakgwa (honey cookie). Everything is arranged differently by type, so you can pick according to your taste.

There's pumpkin injeolmi and chocolate injeolmi too, plus a 'posul' (fluffy) series. The injeolmi (bean-powder-coated rice cake) here is delicious.

There's basic baekseolgi (white steamed rice cake), plus chocolate seolgi, pumpkin seolgi, and honey seolgi. There's also patsirutteok (red bean layered rice cake). Seolgi and sirutteok like these definitely appeal across age groups, so they'd make great thank-you gifts!
There was also mugwort gaetteok, dongbu mosi songpyeon, and red bean jeungpyeon (fermented rice cake) among others. Since I went on a weekend late afternoon, some items were already a bit sold out.
If you want a wider variety, I'd recommend visiting earlier in the day.

Beyond thank-you tteok, these also make great gifts since they can be wrapped in an elegant bojagi (wrapping cloth).

There are also types that keep a bit longer. There were many kinds of yakgwa, too — pastry salt yakgwa, regular handmade yakgwa, and salt yakgwa. There's also old-style chapssal kkwabaegi (sweet rice twist).

There's also a lot of refrigerated tteok. Since you can't always eat rice cake right away, these are good for gifts too. There are plenty of hot, popular items like chaptteok sandwiches, mugwort orangi, green tea cream tteok, and Dubai chocolate chapssaltteok.

Taste test: fruit mochi tteok, pumpkin injeolmi and gamja-tteok
Menu review

I bought fruit mochi tteok, mini pumpkin injeolmi, and gamja-tteok (potato rice cake). The owner even threw in extra tteok for the review... ♥ Every time I visit, I'm reminded how kind the owner is.

Fruit mochi tteok filled with fresh fruit
First up is the fruit mochi tteok. The mochi is pleasantly sweet, with fresh fruit tucked inside.

The mochi is wonderfully chewy, giving it great texture, and the fruit is so fresh and delicious!! Elsewhere these often run ₩4,000–5,000 each, so this is great value.

Mini pumpkin injeolmi with a soft, powdery bite
The pumpkin injeolmi is also pleasantly sweet. The powder coating on top is fluffy and sweet, which is delicious with the rice cake.

Gamja-tteok: the springy, chewy potato rice cake to order
Doesn't the gamja-tteok look chewy at a glance? The container was packed full of them! One bite in, the chewy texture is really charming!
I loved the springy, chewy texture unique to potato starch. The outside is chewy while the inside stays soft. The more you chew, the more you notice a nutty flavor.

For anyone who prefers mild, nutty tteok over intensely sweet ones, this flavor is one I'd recommend!
I'd also recommend picking these up for thank-you gifts or just everyday tteok.
