Chinese restaurant near E-mart in Cheonan: Bultina cockle jjamppong

In short

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is a cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on Seobu-daero in Sinbang-dong, Cheonan, a short drive from E-mart Ssangyong. A family with two children ordered a large level-2 cockle jjamppong at 13,000 won, jjajangmyeon at 8,000 won, a kids' jjajangmyeon at 4,000 won and medium sweet-and-sour pork at 22,000 won, then finished the broth with rice; the pork arrived with the sauce already poured on, but the sauce tasted good enough that the children cleared it. With parking down to basement level 3, baby chairs and baby dishware, Bultina is an easy choice for eating out with kids in Cheonan.

Make sure to put on the apron since you don't want jjamppong broth splashing on your clothes 🤧

The self-serve corner has scissors, pickled radish, and more, and they'll bring baby dishware if you ask :) Both the baby dishware and baby chair were nice and clean—I really appreciated that.

Ordered dishes set on the table

What the family ordered at Bultina and what it cost

Here's what we ordered—large jjamppong (level 2) ₩13,000, jjajangmyeon ₩8,000, kids' jjajangmyeon ₩4,000, medium sweet-and-sour pork ₩22,000, rice ₩1,000, cola ₩2,000.

Full spread of cockle jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and sweet-and-sour pork

All four dishes we ordered came out—they looked exactly like the photos and so appetizing..🐷 We ordered jjajangmyeon separately for adults and kids, and the size difference was obvious just by looking!

How does the large level-2 cockle jjamppong taste?

A bowl of large level-2 cockle jjamppong

Here's the cockle jjamppong—we went with spice level 2 and the large portion. One sip of the broth and it was so rich and delicious! We slurped down all the noodles and then thoroughly mixed rice into the leftover broth...

Toppings and cockles in the jjamppong
Cockles and vegetables piled on the noodles

There were plenty of toppings, and having cockles in it made it even tastier. Piling the vegetables and cockles on top of the noodles for each bite was the best.. eating a bite and then spooning up more broth over and over haha

Jjajangmyeon vs kids' jjajangmyeon: how big are the portions?

Jjajangmyeon loaded with toppings

The jjajangmyeon also had lots of toppings and looked really appetizing.

Let's compare the size of the regular jjajangmyeon and the kids' jjajangmyeon. On the left is the regular size, and on the right is the kids' version. The bowl size is clearly different and the portion is about half, maybe two-thirds—a perfect size for kids to eat.

When we split the kids' jjajangmyeon onto two small plates, this is about how much each got. A perfectly good amount for kids to eat.

Kids' jjajangmyeon split onto small plates

Our 3- and 5-year-old boys shared one kids' jjajangmyeon between them, and since they also ate a lot of the sweet-and-sour pork, there was a little of the kids' jjajangmyeon left over! If you're planning to order the kids' jjajangmyeon for your children, check the photo for reference on the portion 🤧✨

Medium sweet-and-sour pork, served with the sauce poured on

Medium sweet-and-sour pork topped with onions

Here's the medium sweet-and-sour pork. It came piled high with julienned onions on top, which I loved!! One thing that was a bit disappointing was that the sauce came poured on top instead of on the side.. 🥹 I usually ask for the sauce separately but forgot this time, so it ended up sauce-on-top. Still, the sauce was so tasty that it's exactly my style of sweet-and-sour pork haha, so whether it's sauce-on or dip-style, we all ate it happily! The kids seemed to love the sauce so much they dipped their pork right into it 🐷

A piece of sweet-and-sour pork covered in sauce

Even after getting home, I kept craving that sweet-and-sour pork again 🥹 It's been a while since I found a real sweet-and-sour pork gem... 💗 The cockle jjamppong was so, so good, and both the jjajangmyeon and sweet-and-sour pork were top-notch at this Sinbang-dong, Cheonan spot, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong! Definitely go check it out 👍🏻
