Today I went back to Euljiro Yeontan Gui Cheonan Buldang Branch, where you grill meat over real charcoal in Buldang-dong, Cheonan. I visited once before, loved it, and went back — a Cheonan Buldang-dong meat spot worth revisiting! And once again the pork belly was really delicious haha. Maybe because it's grilled over charcoal, the meat had a glossy sheen and was packed with juices. Plus pork belly is ₩5,900 per serving, so it's easy on the wallet too! If you're someone who loves charcoal-grilled meat, I think you'll be curious, so here's my record of trying it firsthand.

Walking inside, there were round tables lined up throughout. The overall vibe was heavily retro, giving it a different feel from the usual meat restaurants you see these days. On nice weather days, they can leave the doors open, so you even get a bit of that outdoor-tent-dining feel!

What's a bit surprising here is that they also have a wide seafood menu! From fire squid to scallop, king razor clam, sea squirt — seafood options you rarely see at a meat restaurant were on offer too. If you love seafood as much as meat, I'd recommend this place for the range of choices haha.

Self-serve bar for grabbing extra side dishes

There was also a self-serve bar set up on one side, so you could grab more side dishes yourself if you needed a refill.

Three servings of pork belly, 5,900 won each, and the frozen radish salad

This time we ordered three servings of pork belly and doenjang jjigae. The basic side dishes that came out — seasoned lettuce, chives, kimchi, bean sprouts — all paired well with the meat.

And the real kicker at Euljiro Yeontan Gui for me was the mu-saengchae (spicy shredded radish salad)! Instead of just being served as-is, it comes out frozen, which gave it a cool, crisp texture that I loved. There was a slight spicy kick too, and the combination with pork belly was so good!

The spicy doenjang jjigae ordered alongside the meat

We also ordered doenjang jjigae, and it was spicy yet savory, great to eat with rice.

Three servings of raw pork belly lightly sprinkled with salt

Finally, the three servings of pork belly arrived! Even the color of the meat looked fresh, and it came lightly salted on top, so it was already seasoned just right without needing much extra.

Grilling the pork belly over charcoal with garlic and mushrooms

They laid the pork belly on the charcoal and grilled it until golden brown! Even after just a bit of grilling, the surface of the meat got glossy and looked packed with juices.

We grilled garlic alongside it too, and with the charcoal aroma soaked in, it was delicious haha. I'd recommend grilling garlic together too!

Mushrooms and pork belly on the charcoal grill

Mushrooms came out too, so we grilled those as well, and the juices from the mushrooms mixed with the charcoal aroma were so good 🥹

Fully cooked charcoal-grilled pork belly with visible juices

Can you see the juices...! Not dry at all, with a chewy texture and the meat's own savory flavor coming through nicely! It was tasty even with just a light dip of salt, but grilling it over charcoal added that subtle smoky aroma on top, making it even better~~

In particular, the combo of putting the frozen radish salad on top of the pork belly was great! You eat the savory pork belly first, then the spicy, cool taste of the radish salad follows, cleaning up your palate! You've got to try it with the radish salad haha!

Is Euljiro Yeontan Gui worth a repeat late-night visit?
