Dinner at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, a cockle jjamppong spot in Sinbang-dong, Cheonan

I was craving spicy cockle jjamppong, so I went to Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch, a well-known Sinbang-dong restaurant and a go-to spot for cockle jjamppong in Cheonan. The spicy yet clean broth was excellent, packed with fresh cockles, and I was very satisfied. I visited for dinner and had a great meal with sweet-and-sour pork and jjajangmyeon too — here's the review!

Where is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch, and what are its hours and parking?

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is located at 285 Seobu-daero, Ilsong Building, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan. Hours are 11:00–20:30, last order at 20:00, and it's closed every Monday (also closed September 25 for Chuseok).

It's on the first floor of the building where the Sinbang-dong branch of Woori Bank is located, and both the basement garage and outdoor parking are available, so I parked comfortably before heading in. Register your parking on the way out and you can exit right away!

Since I came to this Cheonan cockle jjamppong spot, cockle jjamppong was a given — I also ordered jjajangmyeon and sweet-and-sour pork to share.

How spicy is Bultina's cockle jjamppong at level 2?

Level 2 cockle jjamppong at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is spicier than Shin Ramyun but milder than Buldak. It comes with chewy cockles and clams for texture, plus a refreshingly spicy broth.

Since the noodles are made to order, they're extremely chewy.

The clams and cockle meat come pre-shelled and easy to eat, which makes the meal effortless. Level 2 was spicier than Shin Ramyun and milder than Buldak — spicier than I expected, so it would work fine even as the standard order.

Rice is a must at the end!!! Add a bowl of fluffy rice and finish it as jjamppong-bap (jjamppong soup with rice) — it's a real treat.

Bultina's jjajangmyeon: old-school sweet-and-savory black bean noodles

Jjajangmyeon at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch is ₩8,000, and it has potato in it, giving it that old-school jjajang feel — textbook sweet-and-salty.

As soon as it arrived, they sprinkled on some chili flakes and mixed it up for us.

A jjajangmyeon everyone can enjoy — young and old! The potato gives it that old-school feel too. And with a kids' jjajang option for preschoolers, it's a great Cheonan cockle jjamppong spot to bring children to.

Small sweet-and-sour pork: sauce poured on or served for dipping

Sweet-and-sour pork (small) is ₩17,000, and you can choose sauce poured on top or served on the side for dipping. I asked for it poured on top, and it was crisp outside, tender inside, with a tangy-sweet sauce.

It pairs really well with both the spicy jjamppong and the sweet-salty jjajangmyeon. You can choose sauce-on-top or dipping — I went with sauce on top. Nicely, the sauce is poured underneath so you can eat it either dipping-style or sauce-covered, which was a nice touch.

The batter and meat weren't chewy at all — properly crisp outside, tender inside! The sauce is exactly my type, so it's definitely on my order list for next time.

Easy parking, a wide and clean dining room — Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Sinbang Branch works for family dinners, group meetups, and solo meals alike! I had a delicious and filling meal. The 2 hours of free parking made it even more convenient, and it's a place I'd like to visit again with my kids.
