Yeosu shabu-shabu lunch special for six, ₩17,900 each: Tongkeun Shabu

Shabu-shabu is something the whole family loves. I heard there's a famous all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu place called Tongkeun Shabu near Yeosu City Hall in Hakdong, so I went to check it out.

How to find Tongkeun Shabu near Yeosu City Hall

Tongkeun Shabu is on the 3rd floor of a building at 25 Mangma-ro, Yeosu. Come in through the entrance between Hana Bank and Dream Pharmacy, which you can see from the main road~

Take the elevator right in front of you up to the 3rd floor, let's go~

Parking at Tongkeun Shabu: why to skip the underground lot

I parked in the underground lot, but it turns out you can't take the elevator from the basement up to street level, haha 😅 You have to use the emergency stairs to get to the 1st floor first.

You'll come out into a hospital lobby — don't panic, just walk out and turn left, and there's an exit path. Keep going and turn left again, and you'll see Hana Bank; that's the building to enter.

You can also park above ground, so if possible, park there instead~!

Inside Tongkeun Shabu: atmosphere and seating for six

The inside of Tongkeun Shabu wasn't as big as I expected, but tables for 4 or more are well distributed, so it seems like a good spot for group gatherings haha.

The seats are spaced nicely far apart, which I liked. I sat at a 6-person table in the back so I didn't get a view, but if you like a good view, sit near the salad bar haha.

We came in for the weekday lunch (₩23,900) 💪

But once we got to the restaurant, we found there was also a lunch special! Since none of us were super hungry, we ordered the lunch special instead.

You order your broth when you place your order ☺️ Note that the sukiyaki broth uses a different bowl entirely, so you can't split it half-and-half with another broth!

The lunch special table for six: 3 pork neck + 3 beef belly

For the lunch special (₩17,900) for 6 people, we got 3 servings of pork neck and 3 servings of beef belly, plus added mala broth (+₩4,000) and sukiyaki broth (+₩4,000).

Mala broth add-on (+₩4,000)

The spicy, punchy mala broth comes with its own side ingredients! Wood ear mushroom, white wood ear mushroom, glass noodles (bunmoja), Chinese vermicelli, enoki mushroom, and bean curd skin (puju). They all come out together, so cook them along with the meat, cooking away.

Sukiyaki broth add-on (+₩4,000)

The sweet sukiyaki broth comes with 1 bottle of broth, plus king oyster mushroom, enoki mushroom, frozen tofu, and a raw egg. Cook the meat and vegetables, mix them into the beaten raw egg, and dip in 🐣

Is ₩17,900 per person worth it for beef belly and pork neck?

3 servings each, 6 servings total — that's an insane amount, right?? Tongkeun Shabu, the Yeosu City Hall favorite, the Hakdong all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu spot, the meat portion is amazing haha.

Tongkeun Shabu's shabu-shabu meat that never seems to run out no matter how much you eat. Even without going all-you-can-eat, the portion was plenty for us!
